Sail as a 'Long Distance Call Gateway' ?
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:22:27 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm not sure that the title of this post actually reflects what I'd like to do...

I would like my Sail PBX to act as a "LD call Gateway" ala calling card.  Essentially, I'd like to be able to call my switch and have it connect me to a number of my choice.  I'm trying to cut down my mobile LD charges and I think that this would be a great idea, although I'm not sure it can be done.

In a nut shell

1) Call my switch
2) Identify myself
3) plug in the number I’d like to reach
4) Have the switch dial and connect the call

Is this feasible?

I apologise if this has been discussed before, but I wasn't sure what to search for and have had no luck finding anything..

For what it’s worth, I’m running SAIL 2.3.1-9

Thanks in advance.

As Always Selintra comes through :)

Yup, that should do just fine... For some reason, I didn’t think that `CALLBACK` could to external calls.

I'll give that a shot.

Thanks.

I use a custom app (also thanks to Selintra) so when I dial in to my PBX and the IVR answers I press * and it asks for a pin, which I enter then it gives me internal dial tone and I then dial the number I want to call. The option to dial is not announced so you need to know that it is there.

Thanks Del,

I'll also give that some consideration

Both have pos and neg..

CALL BACK is "completly free" from my mobile stand point since our Mobile plan includes unlimited inbound calls, but, I have to dedicate a trunk to call back.

Your approach offers a simple solution on an existing trunk,  but will cost us mobile minutes on the call to the switch. We would probably need a 800 number for that as well since the original call to the switch could also be LD.

Thanks for all you help.
