A new contribs appeared quietly on http://sme.firewall-services.com/spip.php?article63 (in french).

If you don't need multi-tenants functionnalities and are operating in Americas this is a very interesting application. You either use seltintra or freepbx BUT NOT BOTH!

Here's a summary of it:

Add ATRPMS repo from this method (based on Cactus recommandation):
http://wiki.contribs.org/ATrpms

Download files:
Code: [Select]
mkdir -p rpms/freepbx
cd rpms/freepbx
wget http://sme.firewall-services.com/downloads/freepbx/rpms/smeserver-freepbx-0.1-8.el4.sme.noarch.rpm
wget http://sme.firewall-services.com/downloads/freepbx/rpms/freepbx-src-2.5.1-0.el4.sme.noarch.rpm

Install:
Code: [Select]
yum --enablerepo=atrpms localinstall ./*freepbx*.rpm
signal-event freepbx-update

Then use server-manager -> Telephony to manage the pbx.

Many thanks to Daniel for this great project!

Add ATRPMS repo:
Code: [Select]
db yum_repositories set atrpms repository BaseURL http://dl.atrpms.net/el4-i386/atrpms/stable EnableGroups yes Name 'ATrpms' Visible yes status disabled GPGCheck yes GPGKey http://ATrpms.net/RPM-GPG-KEY.atrpms
expand-template /etc/yum.conf
I seriously suggest you install ATrpms with this command instead of the command listed above. The command given here misses excludes and might update packages from the core you do not want to upgrade.

Addendum: please post this in the wiki as well in the Howto Category.

I haven't announced it sooner because I wanted to test several installs before. But now I use it on production servers and it's working great.

I'll make a wiki page ASAP.

To get this kind of basic information about ip telephony, a good starting point is http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/

Since you are asking this kind of questions, I would suggest to test and learn before jumping into a real project. Only my opinion tho...

Installed since 3 months and works like a charm! (sme7.4 and freephonie)
Freepbx prompt you by mail when there is some modules or core updates. very usefull and... updates works.

Maybe one thing you can add is a how to install the localized langage speechs in freepbx. (prompts)

thanks

I've added a basic wiki page http://wiki.contribs.org/FreePBX

It's not complete yet. I'll try to add informations on how-to add additional prompts (at least french prompts) and how to configure some hardware cards ASAP.

Do not hesitate to contribute to the wiki page if you have the time.

Hi. FreePBX uses a special instance of apache runing under asterisk account. This instance is accessible with ProxyPass, just like the server-manager. That means that if you get
Code: [Select]
Bad Gateway
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
then there's something wrong with this instance of apache. You should check it's runing:
Code: [Select]
expand-template /etc/httpd/fpbx-conf/httpd.conf
httpd -f /etc/httpd/fpbx-conf/httpd.conf -t
You should see a message like
Code: [Select]
Syntax OK
If it's the case, then, run
Code: [Select]
sv t /service/httpd-fpbx
You can also look at the logs to see what's going on:
Code: [Select]
tailf /var/log/httpd/fpbx_error_log
C'est la fin du monde !!!

Hi there VIP-ire,
Firstly, thanks very much for your contributions to this Free PBX project. I have been a user of A@H and Trixbox for some time and am very pleased to see the FreePBX contribution for SME Server.

I have a Digium TDM400 card installed in my system but I am not able to set up the ZAP Trunks. I have installed the DAHDI drivers and the system recognises the card (the LED's are on) but they are not shown on the trunks list.

Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Once again thanks for your effort!

Regards,

Thanks very much for your help on the Free PBX project. I am a noob at asterisk/freepbx and need some help. Still doing the Baby Steps.

I have a Digium TDM410P card installed in my system. I can see that the Card is Listed on my SME Server (using hardware contrib) Where do I look in FreePBX to see if the Card is Detected for me to use. What is my First step after the Card has been Recognised by FreePBX.

Any Help Greatly Appreciated

As you indicated installed dahdi module "dahdi-linux-kmdl-2.6.9-78.0.13.EL" is not compatible with installed kernel "2.6.9-78.0.8.Elsmp"   ..

You need to install the right dahdi module which is compatible with installed kernel..

Code: [Select]
yum --enablerepo=smecontribs install dahdi-tools dahdi-linux dahdi-linux-kmdl-$(uname -r)

jmbac thanks for the help

for those that need to know the easy way to installing and upgrading modules in freepbx just do the following

login to your sme freepbx server admin module - https://yoursmeserver/freepbx/admin

Click on the Tools tab, then Module Admin, then on the Module Administration page click on Check for updates online. You can click on "Upgrade all" at the bottom of the page to get all the upgrades, then click on any uninstalled modules that you want to install, then click on Process when you are finished. Don't forget to click the orange bar when you are all through. Oh, and if you ever find and install a module to upgrade to a new version of FreePBX, be sure to read the instructions it will show you and follow them exactly.

hope this helps

my softphones "xlite" seem to be able to connect to the freepbx server and the extensions are recognised. however i do not seem to be able to make an outside call through the tdm410p pci card. it does have on fxo board on it. no fxs

do i need to configure the dahdi config file? how would i know that asterisk/freepbx does see the tdm410p. when my sme 7.4 server boots up it does load the dahdi files

any ideas

You have to configure your TDM card before using it. You should have a look at FreePBX documentation, I think there's some hints.

Basically, you'll have to configure your channels, this can be done with the command:
Code: [Select]
dahdi_genconf

Now, replace the context for trunks as dahdi__genconf put trunks channel in context from-pstn and FreePBX expect them in from-zaptel:

Code: [Select]
sed -i -e "s/from-pstn/from-zaptel/g" /etc/asterisk/dahdi-channels.conf
Now you need to configure your global chan_dahdi configuration: edit the file /etc/asterisk/chan_dahdi.conf and adapt it to your need, also, don't forget to include your dahdi channels configuration here (there should be a line like #include dahdi-channels.conf)

Then, you should comment each uneeded dahdi driver, for this, edit the file (it's not templatized) /etc/dahdi/modules and comment the driver you don't need.
Code: [Select]
Then /etc/init.d/dahdi restart

Now go in FreePBX interface and create a new trunk (type 'Zap'). The important part here is to enter the corresponding channel number. Then apply your change and test
C'est la fin du monde !!!

The green light just means the correct DAHDI driver is loaded (for the TDM410P, the driver is wctdm24xxp).
It doesn't means it's correctly configured for asterisk

When making a major hardware change you should do an upgrade install from the sme7.4 CD so that correct drivers and kernel & modules get installed.
Then run a normal yum update afterwards.

Have done all steps (upgrade from CD; yum update; rpm -ivh dahdi* ) and I'm getting exact same error message.

Any other tips?

Thanks

Do you still have the sme i586 switch in your grub.conf file ?

I have found nothing:

[root@lobo ~]# grep -i i586 /etc/grub.conf

This is the file:

# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE:  You have a /boot partition.  This means that

#          initrd /initrd-version.img

I'm searching at google right now.
And google anwer: do a "uname -i" so

Code: [Select]
[root@lobo ~]# uname -i
i386

that's odd... searching more:
Code: [Select]
[root@lobo ~]# locate kernel-2.6.9-78.0.22.EL|grep rpm
/var/cache/yum/smeupdates/packages/kernel-2.6.9-78.0.22.EL.i586.rpm

So I'm running a i586 kernel... even after a cd upgrade.
Maybe time to a bug report.

anyway... this is not a FreePBX issue... will open a bug and new thread to discuss it if necessary.

That's what I suspected. I'm not sure the commands you issued prove that though.

You need to do a CD install, not a CD upgrade.
The CD install process will detect an existing install of sme exists, so then choose to upgrade it rather than wipe the disk and do a fresh install.
Correct kernels, modules and drivers should then be installed.

Alternatively you could manually install the correct kernel & modules, then edit /boot/grub/grub.conf to boot to that kernel.
Then delete the old kernels etc, see this and links mentioned

I did a CD install, choose upgrade and all it dit was to return rkhunter rpm... after that I did  a yum update who replaced rkhunter again and nothing was changed at kernel level.

Even worst. When I try to install a i686 kernel, I got same error message...it's a i686 rpm ...no for i386 .

I search grub.conf and see nothing about i586.
But when I search /var/yum/cache I found kernel.i586 packages.

Perhaps the issue is with your older PIII processor, maybe that package expects something more recent eg a Pentium 4 ???

It's a bug (open nbr 5568)... I'm having some problems to convince developers... but I'm sure I'm running i586 and even worst, an "yum install kerneli686" do not will install i686 kernel.
I'll retry FreePBX once my kernel bug is fixed.

I have looked at bug 5568.
Something seems wrong.
Your system appears to be reporting itself as a i686 but it won't let you install a i686 kernel. Hardware fault or wrong BIOS setting ??

It may be best to keep this in the bugtracker for now, assuming more input will come.

You can manually get the kernel package from here and do a yum localinstall but I suspect you have already done that (or similar) and the system won't let you install it.

Did you try the additional steps in the wiki http://wiki.contribs.org/FreePBX like adding the fws repo and then trying to install everything again?

dahdi-linux-kmdl-2.6.9-89.0.16.ELsmp is in the fws repo

johnp thanks for your input

i did as per http://wiki.contribs.org/FreePBX

[root@sme ~]# db yum_repositories set fws repository \
> BaseURL http://repo.firewall-services.com/sme/ \
> EnableGroups no GPGCheck no \
> Visible yes status disabled
[root@sme ~]# signal-event yum-modify

however when i do a

[root@sme ~]# yum --enablerepo=smecontribs --enablerepo=fws install smeserver-freepbx dahdi-linux-kmdl-$(uname -r)
Loading "protect-packages" plugin
Loading "fastestmirror" plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin

The problem is that your trying to install local rpms without enabling the smecontribs repo. Of course it cannot work because smeserver-freepbx requires the asterisk-addons package. Just follow the installation instructions on the wiki:

Code: [Select]
yum --enablerepo=smecontribs install smeserver-freepbx

Looks like you have rebooted your server before running the first signal-event freepbx-update (the signal-event post-upgrade && signal-event reboot isn't necessary at all for this contrib).

You have to re-install FreePBX like this:

Code: [Select]
rm -rf /opt/freepbx
signal-event freepbx-update

So try removing everything as explained here: http://wiki.contribs.org/FreePBX#Uninstall (including running the cleanup script), and start over from scratch

Re: smeserver-freepbx TDM400P

Hi guys,

I know this is a old post but I need some help with getting the Trunks on a TDM400P Wildcard with 3 x FXO modules working.
It seems like the card is recognised and installed in SME Server 7.5.1 but I cannot get the trunks to display in FOP, and calls cannot be made or received.

You will also notice it seems the modules are loaded as FXS.

Here are some details of my system and install.

I followed these instructions:
http://wiki.contribs.org/FreePBX
http://wiki.contribs.org/FreePBX/DAHDI

Used this to install:
yum --enablerepo=smecontribs --enablerepo=fws install smeserver-freepbx dahdi-linux-kmdl-$(uname -r)

uname -r
2.6.9-89.0.25.ELsmp

yum list smeserver-freepbx dahdi-linux-kmdl-$(uname -r)
Installed Packages
dahdi-linux-kmdl-2.6.9-89.0.25.ELsmp.i68 2.3.0-68.el4           installed
smeserver-freepbx.noarch                 0.1-27.el4.sme         installed

WOW, sorry to post so many lines but this is what I thought would show someone something I'm missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
