dns not working

dns not working

Hy guys, i've had a small problem friday night, my dns reolvers stoped working... i've tried to add my isp default dns but i still have no resolve when i ping www.google.com ( i get unknown host www.google.com ) for example,
I've took a look at tinydns to see if it's working tha status is ok...
please help

Thanks for opening a new thread.

The only causes I've seen for DNS failure on a SME server are either a full disk (When my SME's root partition fills up, DNS is the first service to fail) or damaged configuration.

Check to make sure you have free space on your root partition (df -h /).

If there's any chance your dns configuration is damaged (that is, if you've been doing things to it manually), you should reset it using:

config delete dnscache
config delete dnscache.forwarder
signal-event post-upgrade ; signal-event reboot

thanks gonna try now :) true it had less than 50 megs to work with ...

the set of resetting of dnscache and forwarder, resets to what default values ??? i've changed the loopback from some of them in the templates, from 127.0.0.2 to 127.0.0.1 thinkin i could get it working... what are the value there ???

Done :) That made it workin', you were right!!! the low lvl of hdd space was the fault Good to know for future reference
