Return on experience with SAIL

Hi,

First, many thanks to those who help me, dispite some false alerts...

After over a year with Trixbox and PIAF, I switched to SAIL. Very different from FreePBX, the interface is closer to conf files. This helps for learning Asterisk.

I don't know what they feed Sail with, but on the same machine and with the same phones, it's faster and the sound is better.

It's easier to setup custom apps with Sail than with FreePBX. But FreePBX has more built-in option (ring groups, custom extension, enum, dundi). Sail gives me the "multi-tenant" environment so I can assign DIDs to extensions. This is not done easily with FreePBX.

Support for FreePBX is wider, but support from Sail is friendlier (:-P).

I thrust better the SME's dev team for server security and administration. So for me, a SME-server is easier to manage than PIAF for example (surviving yum updates). It keeps me within what I know, and I learn other distros on less critical systems.

The box I've setup with Sail is also used for backups during the night with Affa. In this way, 2 SME-servers are backing up each other.
