Forums converted to SMF
« on: August 14, 2007, 10:03:51 AM »
Many, many thanks to Shad Lords for his hard work lately.  The forums have been converted from phpbb to SMF, which seems to be what all the cool kids are using these days ;-)  Shad has also moved all of contribs.org to a new link and a new box, upgraded the wiki and bugzilla, and done a lot of magic with sql and rewrite rules to get all the old links working.  We hope you like it!

If you notice anything doesn't work in regards to the new forums, or have any suggestions, please fill out a bug report here:

Thanks,

Everyone will need to re-activate their account.  You password should be the same you just need to re-request the activation link.  If you request the activation link and don't receive an email send an email to admin@contribs.org with the user account and email and we will look into it.

With the conversion to SMF we get some cool new features, including RSS feeds you can use in your email client, eg:

http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?action=.xml;sa=news;board=17.0;limit=10;type=rss2
(will give you the 10 latest first posts in the announcements forum, in a rss2 compatible format)

It someone wants to have a look at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=25009.0
for more information on all the options, and maybe document all the useful links on a wiki page, that would be nice :-)
