Jader,

Have you been fiddling with the fstab ? I wanne rule out all suspicious possibilities. I've found this :

Jader,

I never used this myself. But it might fix your problem, could also kill all you have in the queue now (make a copy is my suggestion)

Quit all services that use the qmail-queue

wget http://qmail.jms1.net/scripts/qfixq
chmod 700 qfixq
./qfixq

When you have done this you suppose to run it again to do the actal fixing.

./qfixq live

I've found this here : http://qmail.jms1.net/scripts/qfixq.shtml  (doesn't allow IE, I used lynx to get quick access)

EDIT: another tool that might be working (written by a more involved person) http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Communications/Email/queue-repair-1657.shtml

Ihave nothing more to loose... so I try it!
The error on /var/log/qmail/current changed to
Code: [Select]

delivery 7: deferral: forward:_fatal:_qq_trouble_creating_files_in_queue_(#4.3.0)/

and it bring back right permissions:
[root@panda tmp]# ls -la /var/qmail/queue/
total 44
drwxr-x---   11 qmailq   qmail        4096 Apr 24 14:46 .
drwxr-xr-x   14 root     qmail        4096 Nov 15  2005 ..
drwx------    2 qmails   qmail        4096 Apr 24 17:59 bounce
drwx------   25 qmails   qmail        4096 Nov 15  2005 info
drwx------    2 qmailq   qmail        4096 Apr 24 19:15 intd
drwx------   25 qmails   qmail        4096 Nov 15  2005 local
drwxr-x---    2 qmailq   qmail        4096 Nov 15  2005 lock
drwxr-x---   25 qmailq   qmail        4096 Nov 15  2005 mess
drwx------    2 qmailq   qmail        4096 Apr 24 19:15 pid
drwx------   25 qmails   qmail        4096 Nov 15  2005 remote
drwxr-x---    2 qmailq   qmail        4096 Apr 24 19:15 todo
[root@panda tmp]#

After all I restart clamd, smtpfront-qmail and qmail... and to be sure the whole server!
Will return in one hour (have one apointment)

Thanks so far

You have switched AntiVirus & SpamAssassin back on in the server manager ? They should work together as a team and I have the impression that there might be things on an/or off that cause an unbalanced situation.

Seeing that the rights are set correctly is a good thing. Getting a different error is always positive to me too. In most cases it means progress.

Now it is obvious that in the queue itself might be still a problem with the rights that we don't see.

Code: [Select]

ls -la /var/qmail/queue/mess/

Hi

I think I fixed it.
Not really sure how...but:
I have used anything/everything who could fix a qmail queue... nothing worked.
I also removed relays.ordb.org (or another one I cannot remember) from my spam blocking lists.

I enabled back SpamFilter and Antivirus on web panel... nothing fixed it! :(

So I started to change permissions back to old ones... no extra W or X
when qmail-queue went back to normal (permissions, owner)
as had been several times before (even with double check!)... it started to work.

So my opinion is: if isn´t broke... don´t fix it!
If it´s working... just say "thanks God" because now is 11pm!!

I hope never EVER anyone get stuck on this problem like I did.
Best luck to everyone else!

I´d like to say THANK YOU to Confucius by his HUGE patience!

Regards

Jáder

What a relief that it's working again... Was slowly getting a bit worried but now I see it did pay off to invest some time.

1 last advice... start working on an upgrade and I suggest to do a clean install and move all data by the known ways.

Jesper announced already that during this summer his support for ClamAV on SME6 will end.

Hi Confucios/Harro

Yes... I was getting nervous about not be able to put it back on trails... but now everything is ok.

I appreciate all your effort to help.

I really think last tool I run ( ./queue_repair.py -r) MAY have fixed everything but permissions/owner of qmail-queue... after I fix those everything was ok.
I think remove a bad blacklist (maybe the default one for old versions) MAY have helped.

This client will upgrade very soon... they are planning to buy a SERVER (not a builded machine as for now!) ... maybe even a rack server!

I look forward to install SME7 on all SME6 I still have running... It´s very good to use Centos 4.x (a new distro) x  RH 7.x (a very OLD distro!)

Thank you!

Very glad to see that you resolved whatever initially caused your problem. I would like to add though that the only reported problem was the /tmp diretory rights. Having said that, then most deamons use this location for everything and when unavailable I am sure the server can be sick in almost all corners. I recommended a reboot for the same reason but do understand that some servers are not easily rebooted (I have a few of those).

Until now just around 1100 people/servers have updated to the new ClamAV version including the latest sme-antivirus panel. I personally think that is quite fantastic.

Jesper

I´d like to say THANK YOU  by your great contributions.
I apologize if I let anyone to think the problem is your contribution... I really do not believe that.
This server is HIGHLY customized.

I just would like we have better Howto about how to diagnose a qmail problem (maybe a step by step procedure).
I saw the qmail big pictures on their site... but there is no step by step diagnostic.
In some moment I thought about to remove qmail rpm (and smtpfront-qmail too) and reinstall. Not sure if that would have cut my resolution time...
But do not know what/where find for tips/logs/problems... it´s SCARY!!

Jesper, let me say again: Was not your fault!
I´m responsable for anything I do on my own servers! ;)

I just got desperate after second day w/o e-mail and qmail debug is not easy (at least to me!).

Thanks to everyone who contributes to SME!
It´s wonderful see someone who never saw you really trying to help you to fix your problems.
