Email Problem

I am  "could" have a problem with my email server..

Today i recieved a letter form my ISP telling me large numbers of spam emails were being sent from my computer.

I have an Contribs.com Server 7.1.1 with all the laters updates as well as 3 xp clients. The server is connected directly to a wireless router with all ports being forwarded from my wan ip to its local ip.

Is it possible somebody is using my contribs server to bounce spam messages? i have looked into the settings in server manager and both pop and imap are set to local access only.

I would like to totally disable all email services on the server.
What are the services called?

I have examined the logs and see nothing out of the ordinary.

Cheers,

John

Hi jc021179,

I doubt that your SME server is actually being used to send spam, I think this is called relaying. You can check your server here:

One of your XP workstations probably has a virus.
Update your virus definitions on each workstation, disconnect them ALL from the LAN and do a virus scan immediately on each XP box.

Don't reconnect any workstations until theyare all proven to be virus free or cleaned (& rescanned) in the event an infection is found.
