I'm hoping someone can help. I'm truly a newbie with linux. I kind of inherited the support of a SME server 7.x. I got a call saying tape wasn't backing up. When I looked at the message it said:
/dev/nst0: No such device or address
Remember to load the backup tape!
So the info I have and have done. This is a Dell 830 Poweredge, has a 100T Travan40 tape drive. I have in my hands an empty cd case that says Dell Powervault manual and drivers.... empty case...
I have checked everywhere for info... Some of the pieces I've tried from the server and their responses are..
#modprobe /ide-scsi -Answer No such deivce or address
#mt -f /dev/nst0 status -A. No such device or address
#/sbin/modprobe ide-scsi -A. no response, back to #
#rmmod ide-tape - A. ide_tape does not exist in /proc/modules
#rmmod ide-scsi -A. Device or resource busy
#insmod ide-scsi- A. can't read 'ide-scsi': No such file or directory
Seeing as I don't have a driver, finding it on Dell hasn't proved any help, they refer to after installing from the cd. No place I can find to download. Any thoughts from the pro's would be greatly appreciated of what I can try next.
If I'm in the wrong forum, please excuse my intrusion, but I don't really know where else to get this out to someone...
Thanks, Terri
