To check whether your problem is with the email client setup or the server setup, enable Webmail and try to send a message to an external address (using webmail).
Report back your results.

> webmail working but not from Outlook

sme server has a smtp proxy server and all mail sent from clients (outlook etc) must use the sme servers mail server eg mail.yourdomain.com rather than using your ISP's smtp server.

You can disable the smtp proxy but it's not recommended and usually not necessary. If disabled you loose the protection it provides against virus propagation from your internal network, see the sme6 release notes for details.

Also you may need to use secure protocols in your email client ie ports 465 & 993 if using IMAP. This should not be necessary if you are running standard sme6, but will be necessary if you installed the secure mail contrib.

Hi Ray,

Thank you so much, I think i didn't explain you properley.

I got SME 6.0.1 Server and Gateway then i change to server only mode
and forward all the port from my billion VOIP 7404VGP Router to SME server.

I got few vertual domains and hosting their emails.

From internal i can send out email without a problem. I can telnet to my SME server.

From external virtual domain users (client) trying to setup outlook and they can received but with my SMTP server 220.210.8.x.x or(mydomain.com.au) they can't send email?

I try to telnet to my external ip but didn't connect.

So how do i allow them to send mail through my SMTP?

They can use webmail no issues.

If you want external email clients to connect to your server you need to install the secure email contrib on your server avaialable from pagefault.org

Then enable the settings required in the new server manager panel

If using IMAP you will need to configure the email clients to use secure ssl connections using ports 465 & 993

You will need to forward either or both port 465 & 993 from your router to your server
