How do you do it if you want it to backup to a usbdisk?
I have mounted the usbdisk as /media/usbdisk for my rsync backup, but i will also make dar2 use this option.

What will be the target for the job?

"If backing up to an attached local drive, enter the target mount point of your drive. Example: [/media/usbdisk]. Leave the username and password fields blank." I read it from the panel, not tried it yet though.

I would suggest you to try running your job from the console
Code: [Select]
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/dar2-backup job_name
job_name is the one you defined through the web interface.
That way, for the time being, you'll get some more helpfull messages.

It sounds like you may have customized your system to incorrectly mount /media/usbdisk in readonly mode. Check /etc/fstab. The drive should not be mounted prior to running a backup.

successful full 911 restore after major crash
« Reply #115 on: January 03, 2007, 03:11:09 PM »
I want to thank Darrell for the DAR contrib after I used it to restore 80GB of data to a recently upgraded 7.1 system.

In summary, my 7.1 system lost its drive and went down hard. I was only using a single disk, now it uses the RAID option (!).

Fortunately, I had been using the DAR contrib for a full 911 nightly, using a Maxtor 250GB via USB. I retain 3 days worth of backups using the GUI associated with the program.

I downloaded the new 7.1 ISO, built the new server, installed the three rpms associated with Darrell's DAR program and rebooted. I then used the command line to do a full restore from the USB drive after verifying it mounted automatically, etc.

It worked LIKE A CHARM. Nothing like the feeling of being able to pull this sort of thing off.

THANK YOU for taking the time to create this most powerful and effective backup mechanism, and for documenting it for people like myself.

regards,

patrick

I need to backup to a NT-server; I use an ibay for the target.
Get following email

Quote
Connecting to /home/e-smith/files/ibays/backup/files
mount: can't find /home/e-smith/files/ibays/backup/files in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

Do I have to mount the ibay like an attached drive?

thanks
