I'm having a few problems with awstats on a freshly built 7.0 server, hoping someone can help me spot the error of my ways.

I've manually installed the 2 rpm's awstats-6.5-1.2.el4.rf.noarch.rpm & smeserver-awstats-1.2-2.noarch.rpm and everything seems to have gone well with that. Data is showing up in /home/e-smith/files/users/admin/home/awstats/mydomain.xxx/ the Web Statistics is showing correctly under Administration. and I can get into configuration (to enable etc) thru here.

However, I can't make it shows any reports. It just says:

List of Domains viewable by admin
Note: A Domain is not shown until statistics are available.
Domain    Description    Content    AWStats    State    Delegation

Updated on 08/22/2006 at 13:55 in 3 secs. 4 new logs processed.

I guess I need to associate or permit the user 'admin' with the domain somehow. Any tips would be appreciated.

cheers, ezza

Just loaded it onto my test rig and all went as expected.

Did you enable it and setup all the perameters ... then save it?

Then go to your domain and look at the web site ... wait a few mins and check awstats in the server-manager panel.

make sure you use the web address not the ip address to view the website.

Anyway ... work fine for me.

Tib

Thanks Tibs, but I'm still not having much luck here. Its all enabled correctly in server-manager and all the correct stuff is being logged in the txt files in /home/e-smith/files/users/admin/home/awstats/domainname/, it just not showing reports in server-manager. Have just tried re-installing the server and still getting the same thing :(

ok, i've managed to get stats working on sme 6, but still not 7.

i guess i'm doing something wrong with the 7 install. has anyone had awstats working on a fresh sme 7 install? or working after an upgrade from 6 to 7?

perhaps i'm using the wrong packages (see first post), or missing something really basic.

I would recommend a thread on the forum
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=33233.0

I've got awstats running on SME7.

I just installed these files

rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.oss.cc.gatech.edu/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/dungog/packages/smeserver/7.0/i386/RPMS.dungog/awstats-6.5-1.2.el4.rf.noarch.rpm

rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.oss.cc.gatech.edu/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/dungog/packages/smeserver/7.0/i386/RPMS.dungog/smeserver-awstats-1.2-2.noarch.rpm

If you copy and paste make sure its all one line.

I chose a different mirror because the main ibiblio mirror is down.

After install I enabled it ... set it up the way I wanted it ... then accessed my site using domain name ... waited a few mins and presto it was there.

Regards,

Tib

Hello,

I've installed these two rpms :
awstats-6.5-1.2.el4.rf.noarch.rpm
smeserver-awstats-1.2-2.noarch.rpm

They work very well for me...
Domains are not shown until awstats make some stats (every 5 min by default i think) and until he has at least 1 stats to show. Uncheck to ignore your lan clicks for stats and wait 5 mins, browse your intranet/extranet website during this time and see if it has more stats...
I have 4 domains and all showed me stats ONLY when i've generated some traffic on them.

Thanks a lot for the tips guys, at least I know it should be working..

have just done another fresh install and followed Tib's instructions to install this time, but still getting the same thing..

There is plenty of data being logged into the txt files, and that all looks fine, it just won't show anything in Web Statistics. Its almost like its a permissions problem, server-manager can't see the txt files? I've tried delegating the Web Statistics to another user, but haven't started manually tinkering with default permissions yet.

ok, I've sorta got this figured out, good enough for me anyway..

Adding new domains in is working, the reports show up for any new domains that are added. The reports just aren't showing for the original domain that the machine is built with..not for me at least..even though data for it is being gathered.

anyway, hope this can help if anyone else comes across it..thanks all.

cheers..ezza

sorry for the mis-information, the info in the post above is inaccurate.

this is really bizarre, some domain names will produce reports and some won't.

eg. a domain called
owlsecura.local will produce a report

a domain called
owlsecure.local won't produce a report

would anyone be kind enough to double check whether you can produce a report for the owlsecure.local domain, its driving me nuts..

Ok i just finished installing it!!

How do i see the stats? In the server-manager panel i see this screen
=============================================-

Domain|Description|Content|AWStats|State |Delegation
domain |xxxxx       |ibay     |empty   |active|(groupname)

After that i don't see any way to get the statistics i think i should see :p

You have to wait till someone looks at your website till you get data ... if no one does any hits on your website you won't see anything there. As it states under Awstats .... Empty ... so there is no data to show.

Me too, I installed the dungon awstats rpms and for me worked fine except for the local hits...
Awstats doesn't ignore the local hits, so it generates hit every time I log in to the server...
Has anybody the same problem?

I am also wondering, do you people shut down squid for reverse caching?
If not you might not be seeing all hits.
Or am I wrong?
