Virtual Domain Email Forwarding
« on: August 16, 2006, 03:00:30 PM »
I'm using Gordon Rowell's excellent contrib and am happy with its performance.

I'd like to know if the contrib "overrides" settings on the 6.0.1 "User" panel "Forwarding" setting. I need this for a specific business application.

Having set an entry in the 90Aliases file as follows:

Code: [Select]
info@mydomain.co.uk:paul

I then set up, for user "paul",  to have email deliver locally and forward to an external email address as well (using the User settings for Forwarding email in the server-manager).

Trouble is the external email doesn't get delivered.

So the picture is:

Email for info@mydomain.co.uk arrives, it is forwarded to user paul at the local server using the contrib, and is also forwarded to an external email address.

So, the question is, doe sthe contrib support

Code: [Select]

info@mydomain.co.uk:paul
info@mydomain.co.uk:paul@yahoo.co.uk

So both things happen!

Hope someone knows?

It should work OK, have you tested it ?
Send an email to paul@mydomain.co.uk and see if it is delivered to both the local acccount and the external address.

Thanks Ray

To be honest, I pondered that and devcided NOT to try it as I didn;t want to mess up mail delivery for others in the 90Aliases file.

If you think it should work, I'll try it and come back to you soon.

Many thanks

I meant that this will work:

> I then set up, for user "paul",  to have email deliver locally and forward > to an external email address

So you should test it directly by sending a message directly to paul@yourdomain and see what happens. If it doesn't work then something else is wrong. Try sending directly to the yahoo address from your servers webmail. It should work, if it doesn'lt then something is wrong.

By the way do you have mailblocking contrib installed, check that.

Also check the yahoo spam folder, your message may be there !

As far as I know, this will NOT work if you put it into 90aliases
