What is the best way to upgrade joomla 1.0.13 to 1.5
« on: March 22, 2008, 04:11:56 PM »
I'm running joomla 1.0.13 in an I-bay. Now i want to use Joomla 1.5 in /opt using the Howto http://wiki.contribs.org/Joomla
As you can imagine i don't want to loose any of my articles, modules and components.

Does anyone now what the best way is for doing this?

gixmo,

The best starting place would be on the Joomla forums. I have tried to convert from 1.0.13 to 1.5 without success. I will try it again if I have time. Just to clarify, this is not un upgrade from 10.1.13 to 1.5, it is a migration which means some 3rd party items may not work. Here is the best thread I have found so far on this subject.

Did you read this ?
http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable

I would upgrade the existing ibay installation, and get that running OK first.

Then as a separate exercise, transfer it manually to /opt, by copying the files and creating/editing the httpd.conf fragment to suit the new location.

Do a test install of Joomla using the rpm from
http://wiki.contribs.org/Joomla
and see what is created in
/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf/92joomla

This wiki article (while not the answer to your specific question) will coincidently be helpful to you in identifying the files required
