Topic: server reboots when moving files from xp pro!!!

Hi every one

Here is my story.

I'm logged into win xp pro. I can move or copy a file from an ibay ( sme6 or sme7) to the windows xp machine.
But whenever I try to copy or move a file from the windows xp pro machine to an ibay on the  sme server the server computer restarts.
The error is only with an xp pro computer not windows 2000.
Copy or move  to an ibay with win 2000 is fine.
I have tried it on 3 xp pro computers.
This error I am having is with sme6 and now with sme7 final (clean install)
Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this.
I have no problems logging in to the domain with or without the reg patch on xp pro.

This is what i tried.
1. Swaped the network cards over. Internal now does external network external now does internal. Still the error was there.

2. swaped the motherboard and intel cpu and power supply but kept the same hdd and network cards.

Did not need to reinstall the sme7 software ( cool!! ) just plugged it in and it found everything.
The Problem has now GONE!!!! WOOOHOO!!.

Possibly not the best solution as I would like to know what exactly
was that made xp reboot the server but I had the items floating
around the office and wanted to move on from this error.
I Still find it odd that windows 2000 was always ok.

The only possible causes are a hardware problem or a driver bug in the linux kernel.

As Charlie says, it's most likely a hardware thing - there are many SME6 & 7 users here not experiencing the problem.

I would suspect the power supply, because when you kick off a big copy task, the HDD would draw more current, which could cause a voltage to drop out of range on the motherboard.  That's the most obvious thing that changes at your point of failure.

Can't really think why the WinXP is different from the Win2k.. Interesting.
