« on: July 07, 2006, 12:12:21 AM »
Hello Everyone,

I want to know if I can backup this directory:

/var/lib/mysql

to backup all my Database with Backup2 contribs ???

Can I made it with Backup2 or I really need to export the database for a ggod one ?

Or do I need to STOP the service engine MySQL before pick it up ???

Thanks for all answer,

Snoopyski

Any backup contrib should be calling "signal-event pre-backup" before doing the backup. That will create a full mysql dump in /home/e-smith/db/mysql which should be included in the backup.

If the backup2 contrib does not do that, then you should open a bug in the Contribs section of the bug tracker.

The 911 Disaster Recovery Backup job will run the script that Charlie refers to and dump the mysql tables and include them in the backup.

By design, any other backup job you create does not include a mysql backup, obviously as these other backup jobs can be configured to only backup certain folders on your server.

You need to run the 911 backup job as well as any other backup jobs you create and run.
