Backup configuration and status
« on: May 05, 2006, 03:31:31 PM »
Hi all - i have sudden problems in the server manager. I´m not able to run backup to desktop anymore - i have made no changes.

There are now 2 things to do - "refresh this dispaly" or "configure tape backup". I do not have any tapebackup.

It also says "A system restore is in progress. It began at:Thu Mar 30 15:11:11 2006."
How to end that procedure ?

System restores can take a long time to finish, I assume you have interrupted the process.
Your server will therefore be in an indeterminate state.

You should really allow the system to complete the restore (if that is possible now).

To get out of the mess I suggest you do:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot

Assuming your server comes up OK, check to see if all data etc is there, but it probably will be corrupted,
You should reinstall the OS and perform a full restore from your backup, and this time let the Restore process complete.
You will receive a message saying it has.

Remember on a old slow server with lots of data this could take 24 hours or more.
