Hi there folks, im hoping someone might be able to help me out here.

i need to be able to have two users, these would both have the username of: user1 but would belong to different domains.

So this would mean: user1@domain1 could send an email to user1@domain2 and not get the message.

I hope that made sense to you all... its getting well into the end of my day!

cheers

Zach Fleming

What I understand with the link given below is that, you can forward user1@domain to a user account let's say fred but not user account user1.

Correct me if im wrong. I also want to have the solution to this.

let's say for example i have two domains in one SME box

www.domain1.com
      user accounts: john, fred
www.another.com
      user accounts: john, fred

Is it possible to forward

john@domain1 --> john@another.com

THanks

edwardo,

In server-manager if you look in usres, you have the choice of delivering email locally, forwarding, or both, and a place to put the forwarding address.

Bob,

I did this already. You can deliver email locally, forward to another user (Email account) on the same server.

But if i have two domains on the same machine, can i send from

john@domain1.com to john@domain2.com

Can a single SME box have 2 same account names?

There is only a single set of user accounts on sme.

Mail sent to john@domain1 will be delivered to user account john
Mail sent to john@domain2 will also be delivered to user account john

You do not need to configure pseudonyms to achieve this as it is default bahaviour.

Now if what you really want is:
mail sent to john@domain1 to be delivered to user account john,
and mail sent to john@domain2 to be delivered to user account john2, then you will need to configure an entry in the 90aliases file (as per howto) for
john@domain2 >> john2
(mail for john@domain1 will automatically be delivered to john).
