Certificat alert i Thunderbird when connecting to server
« on: April 30, 2006, 12:23:15 PM »
Hi

When I use Thunderbird to connect to my server to get mail I always get an error that sound something like: 'you are trying to connect to 'the name of my server' but the security certificat says it belongs to 'servername.domainname' - are you sure you want to connect?'

It works with no problems if I just answer 'yes', but is there any way to get rid of this warning?

I think this happens also for IE. In V6 I generated some security certificates  and it sorted  those machines I installed them on. There was a good post on the subject - search the forums for SSH and similiar. I forget exactly how I did it without looking back in my workbook. I havent bothered for V7 as I am not too sure how relevant that work was and I simply cannot be bothered working through it till V7 is finalised.

Cheers

A quick search on ssl cert truns up these to threads

http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/Creating%20SSL%20Certificates

and

http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=24067.0

Either one should be helpful depending on how you want to resolve this
