cannot see remote server in openvpn
« on: April 18, 2006, 06:11:30 PM »
I have a remote server that suddenly will not let me connect to shared folders. I can ping it through the vpn, I can access  server-manager through the vpn. I can connect with putty through the vpn, but it does not apprea in ms networks, and I can not connet to it by opening the run window and typing "\\192.168.100.1". I receive a "The specified network nave is no longer available.

This used to work.

Some digging in that server, and I have found the problem, just not shure how to solve it.

I checked smb.conf, and the vpn network is not listed in hosts allow.

I did check the db for local networks, and the vpn network shows up there. I removed the local network entry for the vpn, and then added it back. Smb.conf has not changed.

Would like a little input on adding the network to hosts allow in smbconf.

I have no idea how to set up with Ubuntu. Best I can do is to point you to openvpn.org. They have a how to for most everything.

As for my original problem, I found a work around. I manualy added the ip to hosts allow in smb.conf. I did use the template system so it won't dissapear.
