Anyone got Gallery running on SME Server 7.0rc1
« on: April 13, 2006, 02:00:16 PM »
Am upgrading my server hardware and am running SME Server 7.0rc1 on it.

On the existing 6.0.1 I have a large number of photos using the Gallery setup from Swerts-knudsen.

Just wondering if anyone has got Gallery (preferably 2.1) running on SME Server 7.0rc1?

If so can you let me know what files/rpms/packages you used?

thanks

RT

Hi RT

I've G2.1 running on my 7.0rc1. G2.1 seems to perform much better than G2.0.

G2 works Ok on the base 7.0rc1.  Can't say if you'll have an issue regarding Jespers script installing.. Mine is done by hand  :-)
Regards Jan

Are you sure you did not make a typo? You write netbpm (as in beats per minute) here but as far as I know the product is called netpbm.

Just did a quick test... installed NetPBM form the base repository, the library is installed in the /usr/lib folder.
Configuring Gallery2 to use the /usr/lib folder gives the following result after executing  the Test Settings:
Code: [Select]
NetPBM binary test results
Binary Name  Pass/Fail
pnmscale     Failed
pnmcut   Failed
pnmfile  Failed
pnmcomp  Failed
pnmflip  Passed

I think we need to install an older version of NetPBM or try to convince the maintainers of the gallery2 to incorporate the changes reflected here:
http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/pnmscale.html (obsolete since version 10.20 (January 2004) and replaced by pamscale)
http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/pnmcut.html (obsolete since version 9.20 (May 2001) and replaced by pamcut)
http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/pnmfile.html (obsolete since version 10.9 (September 2002) and replaced by pamfile)
http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/pnmcomp.html (obsolete since version 10.21 (March 2004) and replaced by pamcomp)

I don't use NetPBM but use Imagick and GD (the latter is incorporated in PHP in SME7.0). The first can be downloaded and installed here: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php, I succesfully use version 6.2.6-4. The lastest official acknowledged version for SME (6.0.7.1-14) can be obtained from the base repository using the following line:
Code: [Select]
yum install Imagemagick

I have Gallery 2.1 installed inside Xoops at http://klughammer.dnsalias.com I have netPBM installed at /user/bin with no errors. I think I still have the rpm if you need it (I can't remember where I got it originally) but I agree with the previous poster, I  use ImageMagick for 90% of the work done.....

I did :
Code: [Select]
yum --enablerepo=* install ImageMagick

And it was found and installed, no glitches it's all happy.

I did notice that GD and ImageMagick have problem creating thumbnails for 640*480 phone cam picts. When I set NetPMB to the top of the tool kit priority in site admin and recreate thumbnails, it works correctly. Go figure...

installed the G2 w/o a glitch - still...
one thing is that it does not "quite" work if set to have url rewrite using .httaccess
enabled the right things for the ibay and the conent just disapeared.

The phppath does work though.

Somehow the database file locking does dork (looks like - sometimes do and sometimes not)

I've noticed some intermittent db file locking glitches. They seem to go away on the next try in most cases, but you can always switch to file locking instead of db locking on the site admin page -> general -> bottom of the page.

I was wondering if it was due to mysql being busy...
