Any FAX server on SME7.0 ?
« on: April 03, 2006, 12:57:14 PM »
Hi to all,

One of my customers is asking me for a fax server.
I had some experiences with hylafax on SME6 (Darell May version, I guess).
Does anyone have did that with success under SME7.0 (fax2mail / mai2fax) ?

Our version of asterisk@home is not stable enough so that I can sell it as a robust fax server, but perhaps I'm wrong.

If anyone interested to develop a contrib, I can offer a little help ($$$).
Urgent.

Did you made a complet install from hylafax, with the REHL4 rpms :
ftp://ftp.hylafax.org/binary/linux/redhat/RPMS/i386/hylafax-4.2.5-1rhel4.i386.rpm
without server-manager integration.
or did you follow the SME6.0 way to do it ?

Which clients are you using on the winstations ?

THKS.

7RC1 test server
I did the former and resolved the dependencies using the Centos rpms from my local mirror.  I used Knuddi's script manually to guide me in the final stages of the setup for the template.
I have a problem with incoming fax (albeit with only one test) in that all appeared to work fine, except the pdf attachment in the email is only 66B long, and acrobat reader says it is damaged/not a valid format.

Any suggestions?

Nick

This worked for me, YMMV. (SME7.0rc1)
#yum --enablerepo=base install ghostscript sharutils
#wget ftp://ftp.hylafax.org/binary/linux/redhat/RPMS/i386/hylafax-4.2.5-1rhel4.i386.rpm
#rpm -Uvh hylafax-4.2.5-1rhel4.i386.rpm
Run /usr/sbin/faxsetup
Run /usr/sbin/faxaddmodem
#mcedit /var/spool/hylafax/etc/hosts.faxd
And add your local network details to the bottom of the file example:
192.168.50.*
#cd /etc/rc.d/rc7.d
#ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/hylafax S92Hylafax
For receive enviroment create custom template
#mkdir -p /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/inittab/
#mcedit /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/inittab/75hylafax
Add the following to this file:
t1:23457:respawn:/usr/sbin/faxgetty ttyS0
#/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/inittab
Re-read init
#init q
And I use WHFC for the clients
