Latex install (Sql-ledger)
« on: March 07, 2006, 02:51:54 AM »
I have successfully installed Sql-ledger on my sme7pre3 server and recently tryied to install latex following this post http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=25159.0 as it was the only one I could find that but it would appear to relate to sme6 only.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction to be able to install Latex on sme7pre3.

Thanks

Thanks Charlie ... without your huge depth of knowledge is there a 'place to go' that I could have found this myself or to learn of 'other packages' available?

paul_nz, how much "hacking" did you have to do to SQL-Ledger to get it working on V7?

I followed this How To http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/How%20to%20install%20SQL-Ledger%20on%20SME%207.0

to the letter and it worked perfectly.

A little secret I did stuff up the pg_hba.conf file and had to seek a known good copy from the Delvyn in order to correct my problem but other than that it worked óut of the box'.

Note: I was using a clean version of sme7pre3 that has sent 'upgraded' to sme7pre4.

Sql-ledger rocks but it is worth buying the manual to get the most from the package.

Chris if you email me (paul-at-mrcomputer-dot-co-dot-nz) I'll send you my copy of pg_hba.conf and you can upload it to /var/lib/pgsql/data/ and edit the 192.168.123.50 IP address to your own servers IP address.

I then uploaded it in full to /etc/e-smith/templates/var/lib/pgsql/data/ in full (this is probably incorrect) and removed all changes within templates-custom (again probably incorrect) to allow for template rebuilds, etc during reboot, reconfigure, etc.

Restart Postgre and you are ready to rock n roll.

Cheers

Received email from Chris concerning this.

Chris thought that maybe the problem is that when you run the script, it appears that it will use the default value of 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask if you just hit enter.  Unfortunately, I do not know how to make that happen, so I have updated the howto with more explicit instructions regarding the inputting of the IP and subnet addresses.

I also added tetex-latex to the yum install portion of the Howto as I guess many folks will want to generate pdf forms with sql-ledger.

I'm glad this small contribution has been of value to folks.  Make sure that you include david_d in well-wishing as it was his forum post that I used as the basis for the howto.

So I did the tetext latex install via yum as suggested by Charlie Brady and it seemd to run fine.

But, there is no pdf output option in the sql ledger screens (html only). How do I get pdf output?

thanx

From the sql-ledger FAQ (http://www.sql-ledger.org/cgi-bin/nav.pl?page=misc/faq.html&title=FAQ):

PDF option disappeared
Edit sql-ledger.conf and set $latex = 1;
sql-ledger.conf is perl code, check if it compiles, if it does not, the internal defaults are used which turn off $latex, hence no PDF option.

regards,
jester.

Thanx Jester

That was quick - I was just on my way here to document this as I found it too.

Now I'll have to learn latex it seems. I've been able to change the logo. It works differently from HTML. The graphic needs to be png (? not sure) and are placed in the users subdirectory below templates.
