How to configure AwStats for mail log analyses?
« on: February 26, 2006, 10:56:29 PM »
Hello all,

Having searched on all sorts of keywords, this is my last resort.

Can anyone give me an example config file to setup Awstats for mail logging on a V6.01-01 server?

Thanks in advance,

Leo

The install script from sme.swerts-knudsen.com does it if you like to have a look.

Hello Jesper,

This great script I used to get the stats running for my three domains.

I edited the config file to get email statistics, but no matter what I do, I cannot get it running.

I seem to have some sort of permission problem with the mail log, but according to me, that file is "wide open".

I think I should use /var/log/qmail/current  or am I mistaken?

This is where I got my info:

http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_faq.html#MAIL

I am not very shure how to define the path to "maillogconvert.pl" and I tried several ways. No luck so far.

Any suggestions?

BTW since my family name is Mudde, I'm often called "knudde" which is not so nice in Dutch.....

LeoM,

I followed the instructions and how-to found at http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=23948.0 and this worked quite well.

Would definitely recommend adding a cron job as the mail logs don't seem to update automatically nor do they work from the update link in the AwStats pages - only the command line for some reason, which is a pain.  Check http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=24002.0 for more info on that part.

I would recommend Isolog for that, you'll notice that awstats has several issues, especially if you have a very 'active' mail server.
