smtpfront-qmail not working
« on: February 27, 2006, 05:41:59 PM »
Am unable to deliver mail locally (i.e.) to other user accounts on the same box  or to remote mail servers. It makes no difference which user I am logged in as.

Have recently installed 6.1 and carried out yum upgrade following install (didn't have version 7 to hand and was working to a deadline to get the box back up) also restored user accounts from a backup made on a version 6.0 install)

Apache, etc all functioning as expected, webmail works, can log in but cannot send/receive

when trying to send via IMP webmail the following error appears in /var/log/messages . . .

HORDE[14576]: [imp] unable to send data [on line 930 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/compose.php"]

trying to send mail with pine generates

421 SMTP connection went away!

When trying to send email to the server from another account I get the message bounced back at me with the following error . . . (ip and hostname have been obscured for obvious reasons!)

Remote host xxx.xxx.xxx [x.x.x.x] closed connection in response to end of data:
    retry timeout exceeded

I've tried manually running smtpfront-qmail from /etc/init.d which reports to start ok but makes no difference.

Any suggestions would be most welcome  :-? apologies if this is in the wrong place

thanks in advance

The only version 6.1 is one commercially offered to Mitel customers, and supported through their support department. I presume you really have 6.0.1.

How was the backup created, and how was the restore done? I suspect that is where the problem lies. Your smtpfront-qmail log files should have an answer anyway.

Thanks for the replies  :-D

sorry my mistake it is 6.0.1, the contribs community release

The backups were taken via the server-manager panel (from the 6.0 box ) and restored in the same way on the 6.0.1. I rebooted the system after restoring as prompted to by the server-manager panel.

There are a lot of tcpserver end: status 13 messages, I don't know what this means and have been unable to find out so far but am starting to think that this may be part of the problem?
