Hello,

I and Valentino "Six" Campara have made an iso cd with sme7beta4 live.... very impressive!!!

Link:
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/cgirlanda/iso/
contents: iso image and cookbook
(thanks contribs.org for all)

Iso is about 500MB with these "features":

a) we use script from linux-live, therefore system has unionfs (please
read on www.linux-live.org: very impressive)

b) we made a "server-only" install, with complete devel-tool: ready for
test hardware and for compiling very easy....

c) server has ip 192.168.90.90 with root password sme7live and "ssh from local" active

What can do with sme7live:
a) Improve test and devel for 7 final.

b) boot cheatcode memtest: userfull for memory testing

b) latest RH systems have fs not so standard (e.g. with knoppix has not
LVM tool and RH ext3 can not be scandisk, ecc, with knoppix or other live...),
so sme7live are very usefull on "hard" maintenance

c) linux-live system permit to have complete changes of file system in some place
(/mnt/live/memory/changes): is very fast to compile driver or
program than transfer to other system.

d) sme7live permit to test hardware compatibility in just a couple of
minute

e) is possible storing permanent changes on ext2/3 partition (Warning: no usb stick for now, only hard driver)
(see linux-live for doc and boot cheatcode)

...Enjoy with sme7live!!!

PS:
a) this version has original (clean) kernel not so ready for driver compiling:
next release based on sme7b5 we made some improve

b)  Our idea is make less changes possible (e.g. remaining some errors in startup and halt that can be
correct easy, but this errors create no problems and sme7 remaining sme7...)

Could this be moved to the mirrors?
If you think you know whats going on, you obviously have no idea whats going on!

Have you test another pc?
Could be more specific (hardware config,etc..)?

This version is beta, but we test on about 10 different config( Ibm Server 206 Sata system, HP server P4 SCSI system, many notebooks, P4 assembled desktops, variuos VIA Epia Board...)

Thanks
ClaudioG
PS: Some VIA Epia lock, but problems is on RHEL (and Centos therefore), not Sme neither smelive

I tried to boot it in VMware 5.5RC1 (Windows).  Seemed to start booting fine them slowed to a crawl.  I gave up after waiting about an hour.  I will do some more testing, switch the VM around some (increase RAM, SCSI>IDE, Etc..) to see if my luck changes, and report back
