QMAIL - Queue directory corrupted
« on: September 14, 2005, 06:16:49 PM »
Hello everybody,

I have by mistake erased the directories in /var/qmail/queue/remote.

Since then the server does not relay mail to the outside world.

Apparently a tool called qmail-fix exist in the official Qmail RPM for RedHat but I could not find it in the SME Package.

Anybody has any idea how to restore the directory ?

I have recreated it manualy with correct permissions but   it's no good.

Thanks in advance,

Yvick

I know you know this, but you shouldn't have done that!

Hardly surprising.

There is no official qmail RPM for RedHat.

What's no good about it? Or rather, how do you know it's no good, and what has lead you to believe it is no good?

Just re-installing the qmail RPM (you'll need to use --force) will recreate the queue directory with correct permissions, but maybe there's more than that.

If you do have qmail queue corruption, you might find qmqtool useful:

Thanks Charlie,

Reinstall worked fine.
Sorry about my obscure newbie descriptions, but I rarely get my hands on a linux box and am still vague about what's where and how it all fits together.

Thanks again for your help.
