Horde 3.0/IMP upgrade now denying webmail login
« on: July 19, 2005, 05:36:22 AM »
Okay folks, I'm thoroughly stumped as to how to fix this. After getting error messages which said the following:

I took a look through the /home/httpd/horde/ directories. I looked to be somehow suddenly missing the "kronolith" directories, and I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and use the latest Horde 3.0 "sh" upgrade on my system. Beyond the messages stating those files already existed, it seemed to go just peachy.

Now, however, I cannot login to webmail. Or, for that matter, to the Horde Administration link now created on the SME box. The failure itself in the IMAP log is as follows, directly after trying to login itself:

I've searched through the forums for the way to edit the directory or SQL database, anything to fix it, and I came across a few threads stating to edit the /home/httpd/html/horde/config/horde.php file and update the SQL database password. And here's the kicker ... it's not there. What's more bizarre is that when I perform a "locate" for it, it says it IS there:

[root@heimdall install]# locate horde.php
/home/httpd/html/horde/config/horde.php.dist
/home/httpd/html/horde/config/horde.php
/home/httpd/html/horde/util/css2horde.php

I'm at a loss, and I'm hoping that those people experienced with the upgrade process might have a clue as to what's going on.

I really think this is a simple fix. I know that mail works, because POP3 is just fine. Its the webmail itself that seems to loop out when trying to login. I know it has to be there.

It's not the old turba upgrade bug come to bite again is it?

This is my note for that one:
# This script will fix the 50turba_upgrade_1.1_to_1.2: DBI->connect(horde) failed: Access denied for user: 'horde@localhost' (Using password: YES) at /etc/e-smith/sql/init/50turba_upgrade_1.1_to_1.2 line 43

Hey, many thanks for a quick reply on this one.

To answer your question, that fix did not work. Used it exactly as you showed it and nothing happened. I am rather happy, though, that I could get back in after the reboot. I was worried that whatever I did might have messed something up worse, but as it stands now I just can't get into Webmail.

And the original message I got, which I neglected to put into my original post, was something like this:

"Unable to exectute file file /home/httpd/html/horde/kronolith/reminder.php"

And the whole directory was missing.

I've been reading-up in the forums for any sort of a fix, and finding a lot of people mentioning some way to change the horde DB password via phpMyAdmin (which I have) and then in some sort of config file. Still can't seem to find out exactly where each item is.

Something about the authentication, and possibly some missing components. Again, I yield to the greater experience of those other forum regulars here. I'm ready to be "schooled."

OK, that looks like you don't have all the PHP 4 components that are needed.  Suggest you track down the latest PHP 4 .rpm's on here, install & see if things improve.

Did I understand you correctly that kronlith has gone AWOL? I think this is also someting you should be fixing as ISTR that horde gets huffy if it can't find what it thinks should be there.

If your install already had php-4.3.10 installed, then the upgrade will not re-install php.  I only check for:
IS_PHP4310=pic rpmlist | grep -c php-4.3.10
but the rpm's used are:  php-4.3.10-3eo.i386.rpm, etc.  Maybe I'll change this to check for the 3eo versions and if they are not there, prompt the user to install them.  If you have php-4.3.11 or higher installed, I haven't tested this, but others seem to have it working with 4.3.11.  So, if you don't have a problem installing the above mentioned php version, then you should be able to install then, restart the e-smith-httpd process, check your log again for any errors.

I do notice that it looks like you have turck mmcache installed.  The upgrade script installs phpaccelerator and this might conflict with turck.

Also, if Kronolith is really missing, you should be able to simply re-run the upgrade script and it should re-create the necessary directory structures.

Good Luck,

JB

Well now what?
« Reply #6 on: July 24, 2005, 08:05:38 PM »
Okay, so I disabled all of the file extensions that I was getting before, expanded the PHP.INI template, restarted Apache and now its just failing:

Jul 24 10:48:58 heimdall httpd: httpd shutdown succeeded
Jul 24 10:48:59 heimdall httpd: httpd startup succeeded
Jul 24 10:49:14 heimdall HORDE[20245]: [imp] FAILED LOGIN 67.189.117.182 to localhost:143[imap/notls] as jherrick [on line 247 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/lib/Auth/imp.php"]

The line its referring to in "imp.php" is as follows, just the error message:

                Horde::logMessage($entry, __FILE__, __LINE__, PEAR_LOG_ERR);

And I am running PHP 4.3.11 on the SME:

[root@heimdall tmp]# php -v
PHP 4.3.11 (cli) (built: May 14 2005 21:13:11)
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
    with the ionCube PHP Accelerator v1.3.3r2, Copyright (c) 2001-2002, by Nick Lindridge

Which, from all the posts I've read, means I'll probably have PHP problems but leaves me completely clueless as to why Horde keeps failing. There's no more PHP messages to worry about. I've even gone into the E-mail Settings page and made a change & saved, which stops and restarts all the services. POP/POPS, IMAP/IMAPS, and HTTP/HTTPS are all enabled - nobody's left out.

Sorry guys, I just don't know what's up. Does PHP 4.3.11 kill Horde 3.0? I've read many posts where people say both sides, so I'd like an expert's opinion.

If I should just go back down to PHP 4.3.10, how would I do it? I've searched the forums and nobody says how to remove the newer version/updates. To update, I used the "php4.3.11-upgrade.sh" upgrade script from "Ergozd", and trying to reverse-engineer the thing and make my own script it didn't seem to work. I didn't want to just remove everything without breaking something, so I'd like someone's opinion here as to how to remove the upgrades.

I'm a fish flopping out of the water here, please anybody ... help?

By the way, the items I removed was MMCACHE and the extra file extensions for PHP:

50PathsDirectories75curl
50PathsDirectories75domxml
50PathsDirectories75mcrypt
50PathsDirectories75mhash

70DynamicExtension75curl
70DynamicExtension75domxml
70DynamicExtension75mcrypt
70DynamicExtension75mhash
70DynamicExtension75TurckMmcache

85FileInfo
90TurckMmCacheSettings

curl.so
domxml
fileinfo.so
mcrypt.so
mhash.so

The first time I ran the upgrade script (php4.3.11-upgrade.sh) I didn't look to comment these lines out. I then realized I needed to look through the script, and I commented-out, but this was foolish because they were already on. Removing them and rebuilding the PHP.INI template might have been good, but PHP 4.3.11 is still on. So I'm still a bit clueless.

So now the issue is with the pear modules.  Searching contribs.org for - php 4.3.11 horde - gives this info listed here:

http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=26751.msg111287#msg111287

The install script does this:
pear install Log
pear install Date
pear install File
pear install Mail
pear ua
pear -d preferred_state=beta install -a Services_Weather

So, I think if you follow the tips on the link and the info from the install script, you may fix your issue.

No, the issue isn't with pear. The issue is that once Horde 3.0 was installed, Horde stopped working. No part of the login process works, as I've shown above.

Though I tried it before, I tried all the pear installs as shown:

[root@heimdall tmp]# pear install Log
Package 'Log' already installed, skipping
[root@heimdall tmp]# pear install Date
Package 'Date' already installed, skipping
[root@heimdall tmp]# pear install File
Package 'File' already installed, skipping
[root@heimdall tmp]# pear install Mail
Package 'Mail' already installed, skipping
[root@heimdall tmp]# pear ua
[root@heimdall tmp]# pear -d preferred_state=beta install -a Services_Weather
Package 'Services_Weather' already installed, skipping

I did a search for all the PHP files included once before, someone had the file list up here but I can't find that link. Something about "pear -show" or something.

In any case, I needed to get Horde working, so I tried rolling-back to Horde 2.0 using the included "horde20_restore.sh". Whoa', man, now I'm getting about a hundred lines like the first few you see here. And login is STILL failing:

Jul 24 16:48:27 heimdall HORDE[5800]: PHP Warning:  unpack(): Type N: not enough input, need 4, have 3 in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Cipher/blowfish.php on line 356

Jul 24 16:48:27 heimdall HORDE[5800]: PHP Notice:  (null)(): Unexpected untagged message: LOGGING (errflg=1) in Unknown on line 0

This is miserable. Why did I talk about pear, then PHP, with all this? Because after the fact I saw all the posts about PHP 4.3.11 causing problems, and I just wanted to find a script to remove PHP 4.3.11's upgrades and move back to 4.3.10.

So far Ergin's site (http://ergin.dyndns.org/webgui/) and here both don't have any reversal script or discussion as to which items are being put on, or how to remove them again. I just want to go back to 4.3.10 again and have my Horde & IMP work again.

I'm just begging, guys. That's all.

That's why it's recommended that you test it first, before putting it into production.

I can assure you that the upgrade script works and the restore to horde_20 works.  I have used it many times and just have done it twice today just for piece of mind.

It also looks like whatever changes you made to horde or imp cont.php, probably imp, are incorrect as well.  When I log into webmail, this is my log:

Jul 24 20:21:45 MYSERVER HORDE[9822]: [imp] Login success for user1@thebennetthome2.com [10.10.10.103] to {localhost:143} [on line 150 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/redirect.php"]

Notice I have no [imap/notls] mentioned.

But, if you want to remove the php-4.3.11, then I suggest you do this:

rpm -qa | grep php, then when you see the output, do a rpm -e name_of_file to remove it.

I can't even tell you if that will fix the horde 2.0 stuff.  But, if you are certain you have all of the pear modules, then you could try running the most current version of the install script again and see what you get.

That's about all I can add.

If someone wouldn't mind doing the pear command and listing which pear modules they have that allow Horde 2.0 and 3.0 to work, I'd be darn happy.

mrjhb3, thanks again for being willing to think outside your box and suggest things. Still a newbie and really would like to keep this up and running. SME forums are much nicer than many other ones.

Question:

Now that I've done my Horde rollback, my SME's getting cron daemon mails every 5 minutes stating this:

Could not open input file: /home/httpd/html/horde/kronolith/scripts/reminders.php

Thanks, man, for the listing. I'll try to make some sense of this. I know what I need to do, I'll just have to see how to do it. The whole "pear ua" and then the pear installs doesn't help, as I don't know how to get the software to install things that are shown as "beta" at all. I've tried the "-d" type commands but then I get the "phpize failure" messages. And that leads to a whole bunch of other things, all the way to people discussing the need to go back to PHP 4.3.9.

<sigh> Never should have upgraded.

To remove the old horde reminders cronjob, remove
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/crontab/80HordeReminders then do a /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/crontab, then do
/etc/rc.d/rc7.d/S40crond restart
You should now stop getting those emails.

You will need to make sure that the devrpm's are installed then do your pear magic, then remove the devrpm's.  If you have a copy of the script, you should be able to find the section where I start installing the pear modules, then the last thing it does is remove the devrpms.

Did you get your webmail functioning?

I think I might be closing-in on this. Okay, first I'm getting repeated output of the following messages - unsure how to remove this or what's causing it:

Jul 27 18:50:23 heimdall httpd: PHP Warning:  unpack(): Type N: not enough input, need 4, have 3 in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Cipher/blowfish.php on line 356
Jul 27 18:50:23 heimdall httpd: PHP Warning:  unpack(): Type N: not enough input, need 4, have 3 in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Cipher/blowfish.php on line 356
Jul 27 18:50:23 heimdall httpd: PHP Warning:  unpack(): Type N: not enough input, need 4, have 1 in /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Cipher/blowfish.php on line 356

Secondly, I've just now removed PHP 4.3.11 as follows:

(1)
rpm -e php-manual-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-eaccelerator-4.3.11_0.9.3-3eo
rpm -e php-mcrypt-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-mhash-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-snmp-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-odbc-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-pgsql-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-mysql-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-imap-4.3.11-4eo --nodeps
rpm -e php-ldap-4.3.11-4eo
rpm -e php-4.3.11-4eo --nodeps

And a "php -v" now shows nothing

(2)
Used the "php4.3.10-upgrade.sh" script from Ergin, installs just fine. A "php -v" shows:

[root@heimdall install]# php -v
PHP 4.3.10 (cli) (built: Mar  1 2005 08:30:27)
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies

(3)
Did all the "pear install", only package that wasn't installed was "File", which I then installed. No messages as before, so it must have been PHP 4.3.11.

(4)

Tried getting in to webmail again, and AGAIN it failed:

Jul 27 18:50:24 heimdall HORDE[2039]: [imp] FAILED LOGIN 67.189.117.182 to localhost:143[imap/notls] as jherrick [on line 282 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/imp/lib/IMP.php"]

Checked for IMP install packages:

[root@heimdall install]# rpm -qa | grep imp
e-smith-imp-1.11.0-03sme01
perl-Test-Simple-0.42-1
imp-3.2.1-2es01

I'm looking at that IMP version and mulling things over. I've played with SME a whole lot but I'm still trying to keep track of all the packages being used and what's OK to work with what.

« Reply #17 on: July 28, 2005, 04:36:55 AM »
It looks like you are still trying to get horde 3.0 to work.  A rpm -qa doesn't do you any good, because the files are not installed via RPM.  What you are seeing is the 2.0 stuff.  I did a google of your error and got this link:
http://lists.horde.org/archives/horde/Week-of-Mon-20021216/017701.html

Not 100% sure if this is going to fix everything, but here goes.  Check to make sure you have libmcrypt and probably libmhash installed.  rpm -qa | grep libm  If you don't, you need to download them and install them.  You can get them from my contribs area at mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/jbennett/horde30.  Since you previously stated that you removed the entries in php.ini, you will need to look through the install script I put together and look for 75mcrypt and 75mhash.  You need to get these back into your php.ini.  That looks like it will fix the blowfish errors.  Make sure to restart httpd-e-smith so that the php.ini file is re-read.  You should be able to tail -f /var/log/messages to see if you get any php errors.
I still don't know about the login issue.  I logged in remotely to my webmail today and I don't get the [imap/notls] you are getting in your log.  Did/have you made any other modifications to any of the conf.php files?

Okay, first off I used the horde "restore" 2.0 script provided to go back - I don't want to use Horde 3.0 at all. I tried it and it broke things, so until I can finish the test server and get it working I'm not interested.

Okay, so I did as you said:

(1)
rpm -a | grep libm .... shows nothing

(2)
Downloaded:
libmcrypt-2.5.7-1.dag.rh73.i386.rpm
libmhash-0.9.1-1.rh73.dag.i386.rpm

[root@heimdall install]# rpm -Uvh *.rpm
Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
   1:libmcrypt              ########################################### [ 50%]
   2:libmhash               ########################################### [100%]

(3)
Restored those files (something told me to save them ;-) ) to "/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/php.ini":

70DynamicExtension75mcrypt
70DynamicExtension75mhash

(4)
Expanded the template and restarted httpd-e-smith:

[root@heimdall install]# /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/php.ini
[root@heimdall install]# service httpd-e-smith restart
Stopping httpd-e-smith:                                    [   OK   ]
Starting httpd-e-smith:                                    [   OK   ]

(5)
Checked using the "tail" command:

tail -f /var/log/messages

Getting these errors:

Jul 27 20:02:43 heimdall httpd: PHP Warning:  Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php4/mhash.so' - /usr/lib/php4/mhash.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
Jul 27 20:02:44 heimdall httpd: PHP Warning:  Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php4/mcrypt.so' - /usr/lib/php4/mcrypt.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Whoops ... meant to do that.

(6)
Put the .so files back in place:

mhash.so -> /usr/lib/php4
mcrypt.so -> /usr/lib/php4

Restarted httpd-e-smith (for good measure):

[root@heimdall install]# service httpd-e-smith restart
Stopping httpd-e-smith:                                    [   OK   ]
Starting httpd-e-smith:                                    [   OK   ]

Tried the tail command again, and now no probs:

Jul 27 20:08:55 heimdall httpd-e-smith: Stopping httpd-e-smith succeeded
Jul 27 20:08:56 heimdall httpd-e-smith: Starting httpd-e-smith succeeded
Jul 27 20:10:02 heimdall last message repeated 7 times

Okay. So now, if you think I'm trying to use Horde 3.0 and I'm not, and I KNOW I didn't mess with any "conf" files, any idea what did go wrong?

So for giggles, I decided to poke around and see what "conf.php" files are out there. Take a gander, I think that Horde 3.0 never left (even with the "horde20_restore" script being used):

Horde 3.0/IMP upgrade now denying webmail login
« Reply #20 on: July 28, 2005, 05:33:57 AM »
Everything you have done is for horde 3.0.  Not 2.0.  None of the extra php.ini files are needed for 2.0.  The php upgrade is not needed for horde 2.0, just 3.0 When you get to your webmail screen, if you have a white background, then you are trying to use horde 3.0  If you have a purple background, then that's 2.0.

From your second post, remove the entries in templates-custom, those are all for horde 3.0.  Those are the files that the script would put in.  I will need to make sure the horde20-restore removes those entries.  When I tested this, things worked fine and I moved on.  I forgot to test making a change via server-manager which re-expands the templates again. I'll have to get on that.  The entries in templates are put there by the default server install.  The other entries will not be used.  After you remove the templates-custom entries, go to server-manager/email and just save your settings so the templates can be re-expanded.  Let see where you are at after that.  This has been a dousy of an issue, but I think progress is being made.

Okay, per your suggestions:

(1)
Selected only these entries:

/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/config/conf.php
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/config/conf.php/template-begin
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/config/conf.php/10AllHorde
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/kronolith/config/conf.php
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/kronolith/config/conf.php/template-begin
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/kronolith/config/conf.php/10AllKronolith

(2)
Moved them out (to local machine, in case I need them later) as such:

/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/config  -> local machine
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/kronolith  -> local machine

(3)
Went into "E-mail", hit "Save"

(4)
Did a "tail", only saw the event itself:

OMG.

Okay, as is the case usually with Linux, out of nowhere ... its working again.

I noticed I'd accidentally put the "install.sh" file in the "php.ini" templates-custom directory, so I removed it and rebuilt, restarted httpd & httpd-e-smith.

First time I tried nothing. Poked around, was about to go to bed, tried again ... uh, it worked. I mean, wait ... it worked? Yeah, there's my inbox (still no "Password" link, though) ... empty, but I use POP3 so ...

So I went into "E-mail", changed the HTTP to HTTPS-Only, saved, and tried again. Well !$@#4!@# !$@#1 ! @#$12# .... its working. Its really working.

I'm not touching a production server anymore with new code. I'm making a test server if I have to use coatwire and duct tape.

Thanks, all the brains here, for all the damned good help you provided. I promise to provide as well in the future for any & all of your questions I might be able to help with. You've been great help.

Damn glad to hear that is working!!!  I built another test server last night to try to duplicate your issue, but now I can do something else.  I did test all of the templates-custom files that remain after running the horde20-restore.sh script and they don't interfere with horde 2.0.  So, maybe I did test that and forgot.  But, working through your issue has prompted me to remove those files.

Have a good day.   :hammer:    :pint:

Been using horde 3 for quite some time now and I think it's great.

One thing though.

Do you know how to change the welcome screen in Horde 3 ... looks and performs a lot better that horde 2 ... well thats my opinion anyway ... but would love to change the welcome screen.

When I used horde 2 some one did a howto to change the welcome screen but I can't seem to find a way on horde 3.

I'd love it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Haven't done much in this area.  Here are some places you can check.  The welcome to webmail is in imp/login.php.  Also, look at imp/login.inc and imp/motd.conf.  If you find more or a better way to do this, please post it so others can benefit as well.  Maybe we could start a wiki page with tips and tricks for horde 3.0.

I'll have to re-load my test box with 6.0 and run the script again to see if I can dup the copy error.  Don't know why you are getting the errors when trying to shutdown httpd.  I'll see what my reload does on that as well.  Next, either the horde/config/conf.php file didn't expand correctly
or the horde database password was changed.  Do a /sbin/e-smith/config show horde, then edit horde/config/conf.php.  The dbpassword and $conf['sql']['password'] lines should match.  If they don't, then look here /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/home/httpd/html/horde/config/conf.php/ and make sure you have 2 files: 10AllHorde and template-begin.  If you do, then do this
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /home/httpd/html/horde/config/conf.php and then check the horde/config/conf.php for the password value.  I don't know what was done before the upgrade to php. Did you try to do it manually? Maybe that doesn't matter.  Let me know your results and I'll work on getting a 6.0 server rebuilt and run the scrip on it.

WOW!  Ok I have no more errors in the /var/log/messages I think it was because I deleted the subsystem lock for the httpd that was failing on the restart. Now it works but doe snot report any errors on it.  Here is what I get when I do that show horde command. I think the problem is the seondline after the DbPassword.  I may have goofed bad somewhere.

[root@webmail log]# /sbin/e-smith/config show horde
horde=service
    DbPassword=ZtempPass
    ZtempPass=horde
    access=full
    imp=installed
    kronolith=installed
    mnemo=installed
    nag=installed
    status=enabled

Sorry about all of this I just followed the scripts and then learned later that I had the wrong RPMs so I had to re-install them some of them didn.t take so I had to install them one at a time with a --force or a --nodeps. I finally have gotten rid of all of my errors but I am still having problems. I will try these other commands here and IW ill post the results. thank you so much for yor time!

Sorry, I didn't really mean for you to paste your dbpassword. You might go and edit your post and remove that since you said it was a semi-production machine. Now that all of the errors are gone, is  webmail still failing?  Did you look in /horde/config/conf.php for the password line to make sure that it matches the dbpassword value, and it not re-expand the template?  The additional line shouldn't get used because nothing should call for it.

How do I know if my php/horde is working I tried to do the following.

http://website.website.com/horde/test1.php

but nothing shows up. My firewall reports that:
 The system returned:

    (111) Connection refused

Does this help anyone else in figuring this out as well?

I have read and re-read many of the post son these forums.  This problem is similar to a few other posts but I feel it is still a little bit different because of the no-errors and the results returning nothing.

..::eric::..

They do match.  This is the line from your conf.php
file:
$conf['sql']['password'] = 'password_removed';
and the value of your dbpassword
[root@webmail log]# /sbin/e-smith/config show horde
horde=service
DbPassword=password_removed

So, that is good.  Just caught your latest posts.  OK on the password stuff.  My test.php didn't work as well.  The default SME install denies access to test.php files.  Here is what I do:
Go to /home/httpd/html/horde and copy test.php to test1.php.
chown root.www test1.php
chmod 444 test1.php
open browser to myserver/horde/test1.php
remove test1.php when finished.

The extra line in the horde file should't cause any entries because nothing should be trying to look up that property or value.  You can remove this by:
/sbin/e-smith/config delprop horde ZtempPass
Then you should end up with something like:
[root@testmy60 horde]# /sbin/e-smith/config show horde
horde=service
    DbPassword=password
    access=full
    imp=installed
    status=enabled

What do you get when you try to go to webmail?  Still a db error?

Where can I look for additional log errors? I am only looking in the /var/log/messages

I do not see anything that is out of the ordinary I don.t even see any horde errors any more.

Any suggestions.

Oh my test1.php does not seem to work either. I followed your instructions and still have nothing to show for.

I am still receiving the following:

[root@webmail horde]# /etc/e-smith/events/actions/restart-httpd-full
Shutting down http:                                        [ FAILED ]
Starting httpd:                                            [   OK   ]
serviceControl: Couldn't system(/etc/rc.d/rc7.d/S85httpd-e-smith, restart):
Couldn't restart httpd-e-smith at /etc/e-smith/events/actions/restart-httpd-full line 45.
[root@webmail horde]#

When I ssh in as admin to the console menu I am not able to access the "Access Server Manager" menu once I enter in my password it drops me back to the first menu.

I think it is somehting with the php RPM install that was performed.

Now I have backed up my horde.sql and everything but being that I am this far in I'm unsure as to whether I shoudl turn back.. I have faith in the community to help an admin out. So I think I will just trudge fourth and see what is suggested next for this scenario.

-Sincerely,

Try looking in /var/log/httpd/access_log, and/or error_log.  When you try to access webmail, what error do you get in the browser and in your logs?  I am running out of ideas.  I don't like the fact that some of the php rpm's had to be installed using --nodeps or --force.  Here is all I got left:

1.  You could try a reboot to see if that fixes it.

2.  You can do a /sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade then /sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
This will do all sorts of things, one of which is re-expanding a bunch of templates.

3. You can try to revert back to horde 2.0 using the script in /root/horde20-restore.  I have tested this many times and it has never failed for me, but the one other person that I know that ran this, had a few issues.

Now we are getting somewhere.  Do a php -v and see if it matches this: - probably not
[root@testmy60 root]# php -v
PHP 4.3.10 (cli) (built: Mar  1 2005 08:30:27)
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
    with the ionCube PHP Accelerator v1.3.3r2, Copyright (c) 2001-2002, by Nick Lindridge

Edit your php.ini file and remark out:
zend_extension="/usr/lib/php4/php_accelerator_1.3.3r2.so"
then restart httpd and see if that error from the httpd error_log goes away.  For some reason it appears that you have a different rev of the ION accelerator.

Check you /etc/php.ini for this line twice
zend_extension="/usr/lib/php4/php_accelerator_1.3.3r2.so", or something similiar I just edited my php.ini file, added a second line, restarted httpd and now I get what you have above.  You should be able to remove one or both of the lines from php.ini, restart httpd, then do the php -v again.  If you see only one occurrence of the Zend entry, then check what is in /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/php.ini.  See if you somehow have two entries for the Zend.  If so, remove one of them.  That still doesn't explain why httpd is erroring out on you.  Do you get anything when you try to access webmail or any site on your local server?

Also, if httpd is not really working, then reverting back to horde 2.0 won't do you any good as you still won't be able to access webmail.  Need to figure out why httpd is having issues.

Eric,

I still need to know what you get when you try to access webmail and any other web page local to your server?

If httpd is still an issue, then go to /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/httpd/ and rename httpd.conf to something else.  Re-expand httpd.conf template and restart httpd.  If it starts fine, then the issue is with one of the templates.

I think in general sme 6.0 does not liek to be upgraded. So this is what I did:  I copyed off my backedup  horde.sql file.. Then I rebuilt the server as a SME 6.0.1-01. Once I did this I imported in my DB and then I ran the upgrade script for the HORDE and IMP. Everything went awesome!

I have a small problem now. I added in my own servers.php file. It all works but I can not seem to figure out how to log on to the HORDE section locally to do the HORDE administration.

Would any one know anything about this?

Sincerely,
::eric::

To administer horde 3.0 you have 2 choices.  Login to webmail as admin choose administration/setup and make your changes.  You won't be able to write the changes but you will be able to copy and paste them to the correct conf.php file.  Or, login to server-manager/administration/Horde Admin setup - Follow the directions, when finished, Horde admin save.
