"intranet" as domain name
« on: January 31, 2005, 01:57:44 AM »
I would like to set up a ebay/domain name "intranet" that should be accessable only from lan.

The problem is that it looks like there is only possibly to set up a double name like www.intranet or lan.intranet or something lik that.

Is it possible in any way to set up the adress "http://intranet" only ?!

By the way, using SME 6.0.1, and exept for that it will not permit me to set up my wanted intranett adress (???), it works perfectly well.

Best reg Arne.

No one that got an idea ?

I guess it could be possible, one way or the other to modify the httpd.conf template in such a way so that it will produce an additional virtual directory http://inttranet ar an adition to those set up by the ordinary configuration tool (server-manager) ?? Just an idea ..

nybody who have tried such a thin or who has any other suggestions ?

Best reg Arne.

Thanks for your suggestions !

On work I have set up a intranett with the adress:
http://intranett (Adressing via MS dns server, surver via Fedora Core 1.)

This can be accessed by clicking a link on the external page when you are at work. "Out" at the internet this link will not work at all.

The idea was to make an identical mirror of the intranet installation at work, and then install a copy of this at home as a basis for further develoment.

To make this transfer smooth and easy it would be an advantage to use the exactly same adress http://intranett
