SME and VMware-tools
« on: May 22, 2006, 06:40:24 PM »
I installed my sme 7rc2 before I found this post http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=30705.0 and seeing how I have already imported my old sme 6.5 settings/users/files, I really would rather NOT start over but I am running into issues getting vmware tools installed.

From the vmware-tools, I mainly am looking for help keeping time as my VM runs about 1.5x time in the vm world and with in a couple of days, I am sending/receiving email in the future (Freaky).

I get the following error when trying to install VMWare tools as the vmware-config-tools.pl trys to unload the pcnet32 module.

Quote
unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth1 to become free.  Usage count = -2

I have tried running this with the network up as well as down.  The only way to recover once this begins is to hard reset.

Has anyone else had this problem?  Does anyone else have any idea what I can do to resolve it?

Thanks

Neru

I figured out how to get VMware-Tools installed.

I rem'd out the pcnet32 modute in /etc/modprobe.conf, rebooted the VM, then re-ran the vmware-config-tools.pl script and followed the instructions to implement the vmxnet driver.
