Topic: upgrading from postgresql 7.2 to 7.4 !!!!!!

please help when i want to upgrade from postgress 7.2 to 7.4 i get;
[root@fileserver postgres_7.4.2]# rpm -Uvh *.rpm --nodeps
Preparing...                                                          ########################################### [100%]
file /usr/lib/pgsql/pltcl.so from install of postgresql-pl-7.4.2-1PGDG conflicts with file from package postgresql-tcl-7.2.1-5

how do i uninstall 7.2 ?

forgot how to use the rpm --erase command

when i try to start postgresql i get;

[root@fileserver postgres_7.4.2]# /etc/init.d/postgresql start

How did you solve this particular error i am having the same error on a 7.0 release and have not been able to fix it.
