Download and install the following file:
VMware-workstation-4.5.1-7568.i386.rpm
them, just configure it using the following command:
# vmware-config.pl
When it say that "None of VMware Workstation's pre-buit modules..." just hit Enter.
Do the same when it asks for the location of the "C headers that match your running kernel"
wait for a while, them configure the network as follows:
When it asks if you want networking for your virtual machines type "yes" and hit "enter"
If it says that "Your computer has multiple ethernet ... etc..." type "eth0" and hit "Enter"
Then, just say type "no" when it asks if you want to configure another bridged network.
Do the same when it asks if you want to enable NAT, host-only networking and accessing the host's filesystem.
This is it. The virtual machine that you'll create in VMware will now be connected to the local network of the SME server machine, just like any "common" machine in the network.
Now just start X-Windows, open a terminal console and type vmware
Create the virtual machine (don't forget that you need a serial number for VMware, please don't ask me for this) and use it just as a normal computer.
Now, add this virtual machine to your SME domain or workgroup. The network between machines will work great.
At least just until you reboot...
I need your help fixing this. In my case, the virtual machine is a XP added to the domain created in SME.
