Ray,

As per your HOWTO does this only work in Server ONLY mode and NOT Server & Gateway.

TIA

I use it on a server that is configured for Server & Gateway mode and it works fine.

I HAVE NOT tried it in Server only mode, but if the email server service is enabled & functioning (smtpfront-qmail) and the box has Internet access via another sme server or firewall, then I assume it should work OK.

Why don't you try it out and report back to me, that's the way HOWTO's get created.

I'm was wondering how this might work with ASSP? Any issues between the two?

I don't know, I don't use ASSP.
This RBL list blcoking is part of the email system so I don't think it matters what software you run. Incoming spam is blocked before it even gets into the server.

Why don't you try it out and let us all know, your information can then be added to the HOWTO

Thank you for your efforts.

I think this should do it.
Would you please confirm with me that it works OK ?

/sbin/e-smith/config delprop smtpfront-qmail RBLList

/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv

svc -t /service/smtpfront-qmail

Thanks

Hi Ray,

Excellent effort here. I have a question though. You issue the following command:

/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv

which expects some kind of template in the /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv

directory. What is there on your server - nothing is on mine 6.0?

Rgds,
Jesper

Some minor changes and command improvements resulting from feedback from users
The basic instal & setup procedure is still the same though

I think you have made a wrong assumption. There are no custom templates created as this is a standard feature of sme v6.0 server, and the default location for the "master" template is
/etc/e-smith/templates/var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv
You will see the template fragments there.

I am getting a similar response to Jesper

Quote
[root@sme root]# /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv
ERROR: No templates were found for /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv.
 at /sbin/e-smith/expand-template line 64

any ideas?!

I am running ver6

Dear wacko & Jesper

> I am running ver6

Which version of 6, v6.0 (Mitel release)or 6.0.1-01 (contribs.org release) ?

> /sbin/e-smith/expand template /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv
> ERROR: No templates were found for /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv.
 at /sbin/e-smith/expand-template line 64[/quote]

The basic instal is very simple, the rest of the howto is support information. Are you sure you did the following steps as a minimum ?

/sbin/e-smith/config setprop smtpfront-qmail RBLList sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org

/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /var/service/smtpfront-qmail/runenv

svc -t /service/smtpfront-qmail

Do you see the template fragments mentioned in my earlier post ?

Please advise
