Sub Domain Settings in Apache
« on: March 29, 2004, 11:23:28 AM »
Hi Guys,

On single SME 6.0 server on which I have a single domain domain1.com and would like to setup a couple of subdomains sub1.domain1.com and sub2.domain1.com. Have setup the host names and virtual domains within the admin console successfully.

I can see in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf what I'd like to modify but I am unable to find the correct parameter in /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf that I'd like to expand upon through the "templates-custom"

Plz help...Thanks in advance !!

Hello

You can simply just add them using server-manager under the
hostnames & addresses link just click on the add hostname
type in the name you want and add the rest of the info to suit your needs You will also have to update your dns server info
if you are using zoneedit or some other dns service

hope this helps

Hi gbaird,

Thanks for your reply.

I have already setup the "hostnames and addresses" and pointed sub1.domain.com & sub2.mydomain.com through "domains" (virtual domain) to point to the same ibay.

eg.

I would like sub1.mydomain.com to point to the following path:
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/sub1

&

I would like sub2.mydomain.com to point to the following path:
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/sub2

The issue that I have come is that I can't find the exact component in:

/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

that i can use to expand !

do search on proxypass URL.
There is (working) contrib, that does it with server-manager panel for configuration.

hi boris,

thank you for that pointer...seems to have solved my problem

got it from

http://tech-geeks.org/contrib/loveless/SMEServer/contribs/proxypass/dmc-mitel-proxypass-0.0.1-3.noarch.rpm

works like a charm :-)
