Topic: How about an "announce" forum?

Why not to use built-in e-mail notification for new additions, changes. It works well.

The built-in e-mail notification is usefull, but you must have written in the thread to use it (or maybe I missed something).

That is true for forum, but initial post was about contribs and updates. That area does not require posting to be notified of changes.
