proftpd problem from external address

I'm having the weirdest problem with proftp...

If I ftp to the internal address, everything's fine. But if I attempt to ftp using my domain address (ftp.stevecrowers.com), I can log-in, I can pwd, but if I attempt to do an ls, the connection times out and drops.

The proftp.conf file doesn't appear to have any smoking guns.  This worked on my 5.6 box prior to my upgrade to update 3.  Anyone have any ideas???

This one has me stumped (although I'm a recovering windows programmer, so maybe that's not hard)!

-Steve

-BTW, I have Stephen Noble's chroot contrib installed, unrestricting users doesn't help, but maybe it's related???

It depends on how your network is setup.  Try enabling PASV or "Site sits behind a router or uses NAT" on one of your FTP clients.  I recommend using FlashFXP (http://www.flashfxp.com) if you are using Win32.  I have had similar problems.
