permissions problem HELP!
« on: February 22, 2004, 05:27:23 PM »
I am not able to display the mail log file from the server panel.  I was able to in the past, but I may have hosed up the permissions while trying to get another package working.  Below are the specs.  I would really appreciate any help with this.  If there are links/sites that may be of help while I try to learn more about the permissions, please post them as well.

E-Smith 6.0 final
From server-manager...
View Logi files link ( this used to work) now I only get this:

ON THE RIGHT FRAME WHERE THE FILTER OPTIONS SHOULD BE:
"View log files
This panel allows you to view or download the log files generated by the services running on your server."

NOTE:  I can click on the link below and I can view the maillog files without a problem.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!!
Duane

I'm reaching, but you could try a /sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade, then /sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot, to see if this corrects any permissions.  Remember, I said I was reaching.

It was a permissions issue with some temp or tmp folder. But i don't know how to solve. Try

tail -f /var/log/messages or
/var/log/squid/access.log or
/var/log/httpd/admin_error_log or
/var/log/httpd/admin-access.log

and try to capture the error. In one of these the error should be logged and it should say what needs to be done.
