I would like any help in finding a module for setting dial out connections to initiate ONLY when a client requests it. (The line would not be in use unless so)
I have just upgraded to 4.1.2

thanks in advance!!!

Check this one (haven't tested it)
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=10557.msg39834#msg39834

and there is another one
I think from Stephen Noble contributed rpm's (isp something rpm)
I've tested it and it worked great in e-smith 4.0.1 and 4.1

Thanks, I installed Stephens'  and it seems to be what I needed. I believe the 'start' setting is the one that will not hold the line open...did you find this to be true?...Again, thanks

You could try this one. It worked correctly on e-smith 4.1.2.

ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/KamiSvetli/RPMS/noarch/e-smith-dialup-0.1-1.noarch.rpm

Please, say more about what you want and what you find.

In detail I was wanting the client( ie win box) to initiate the modem response, and drop the line once a certain amount of time of inactivity has passed.
------------
I would settle for using the e-smith manager to control activity physically, but would like the former, since I have 1 dialup and would prefer not to keep it tied up too long.
Thanks,
Shawn

This is what e-smith does normally (depending on your settings). See www.e-smith.org/docs/manual, in particular:
