I need to get the e-smith server to make a vpn connection to a third party VPN server. I downloaded and installed pptp-linux-1.1.0-1.i386.rpm for testing and was able to make an initial connection to another e-smith box, however the connection dropped out after a couple of minutes:
Dec 13 11:42:15 server pppd[17093]: No response to 10 echo-requests
Dec 13 11:42:15 server pppd[17093]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Dec 13 11:42:21 server pppd[17093]: Connection terminated.
I tried adding the remote server's subnet into the local networks panel to no avail, I also noticed that my static external IP for eth1 had been overwritten with the vpn server assigned private IP causing all sorts of trouble. Before I delve too deep into this, has anybody done any work with this or any other vpn clients? Basically I need to pull up a site by IP and have this traffic route through the ppp interface.
