samba locking issues today
« on: April 04, 2002, 06:29:14 AM »
I had a strange occurrence today where one workstation all the sudden had only read access to the e-smith i-bay files. Neither the workstation nor the server cfg had changed.

After rebooting the server I now get the following msg using smbstatus:

[root@server /root]# smbstatus
Couldn't open status file /var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK

The /var/lock folder contains:
[root@server /root]# ls /var/lock/samba -al
browse.dat  nmbd.pid  smbd.pid  wins.dat

Anyone have an explanation for this msg?

Aaron

Opps, just relaized the missing lock file is due to reboot & no smaba activity - dooh!

Now has anyone else experienced issues with locks on files?
