Hi Joseph. About a month back now we looked at some options to allow for dynamic IP address email servers. I would love to know what route you are going to take regarding this.

Hi Roger! Here's the current plan: We'll continue to recommend ETRN with static IP as the best way to handle dialup email. Second option will be ETRN with dynamic IP. This will have to be used in conjunction with a dynamic DNS service. We'll provide a hook for users to supply a script or program which will be executed whenever the IP address changes. This can be used to notify the dynamic DNS service of the new IP address. The third option will be to have all of the domain's email delivered to a single POP mailbox at the ISP. The e-smith server and gateway will periodically download all mail and deliver it to invididual POP mailboxes on the server. This last method will work best if the ISP's mail delivery mechanism adds an X-Envelope-To header to each message as it is delivered to the shared POP mailbox. Otherwise, messages will be delivered according to their "To" header (which can be unreliable).
