Resetting User Accounts Configuration Files

Hi,
It seems that I have made a "little" mistake when I have tried to modify the /etc/passwd file manually.
Since then, each time I try to modify a user password with the web administration interface I get the following message "Failed to set Unix password for account XXX".
Does anybody know how to get rid of this damned message ?
Tanks in advance...

One way would be to login as root and type "passwd username", (inserting the appropriate username, of course) which should sort things out.
Never edit your /etc/passwd by hand! (unless you *really* know what you're doing, and maybe not even then)
K.
