Hi ,

I have a cable modem at home , but to connect to the server I have to put in a username and password to access the net which on my present windows 2000 server is done by a software provided by my service provider. How do I get e-smith to do it for me ?
What should I put in as my default gateway and domain name when e-smith askes for it.
Please help

I think your provider is using a PPPOE client to connect you to the net. You will need to get special patched version of pppd in order to connect. Please visit
http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/#download
You will get all the information you need. They refer to DSL (mostly) but it applies to cable modem as well.
If you need a better(?) solution, put a router in between cable connection and your pc's. Inexpensive cable/DSL routers are available from many a vendors.
Hope this helps

Roaring Penguin PPPoE is already installed. If indeed it does apply to cable as well as DSL, then just selecting the DSL option in the console configuration wizard will enable connection.
