Good day ladies and gentleman. I am a novice of SME and even my contacts seem not to know whats going on.
I have read on this forum that the following problem should be reported to bugs section, and via google no relevant help is available other than checking receive before sending or turning the authentication off. I have tried these changes but none work.
I am taking a chance in perhaps someone here who may come up with a solution (or knows of one) or at least know of a explanation i can give to my people that wont make them want to string me up on the nearest tree!
Our office is running fairly default SME 7.3 server.
All employees of the company have an account on the server.
Their emails (via the outlook 2003 client) has been setup to use the email services on the SME for both incoming and SMTP
SMTP in the clients have been set up to use ssl authentication for SMTP.
They use their SME account usernames and passwords for this authentication:
- outgoing server uses their SME account username and password and is set to log on using SPA
- advanced settings: SMTP is set to port 465 and set to use ssl encrypted connection
All of the above settings works perfectly fine with outlook 2003 and outlook express.
Outlook 2007 can receive emails perfectly but cannot send. It produces an error stating that the authentication methods provided by the given SMTP is not supported by office 2007.
Majority of the net states that the issue is a bug in Outlook 2007 (some bright-spark change MS thought would be a good idea)
I ask then for any information concerning a solution to this is issue or some additional info i can use to try and circumvent the problem or start researching on to find a solution!
I thank you for your assistance in advance.
