Teamspeak port 8767 how?
« on: September 08, 2005, 07:43:58 AM »
I have installed 6.0.1-1 and sme-6.0-masq-manager-0.1-3.noarch.rpm.
I have opened port 8767 in the sme interface.
I am able to connect to my teamspeak server via lan but not via internet.
Doing port scans via sygate and grc, 8767 shows as closed.
What am I missing, please help.

It has to be UDP. Did you open 8767/UDP?

Affirmative, in the fire wall link of server-manager under port opening, I have only one entry udp 8767. My server is in gateway-server mode, first machine behind the cable modem. TS server is in good shape as I can connect to it just fine from the lan. I can connect to the web page of the server from the WAN side, but not TS. I'm stumped.

Where is your teamspeak server? If it's not on the SME server itself, there's no point in opening ports.

Hey briant,
just a thought here. Could there be a permissions problem?
Is TS installed in an ibay?
Is the ibay set to executable?
Good luck

it's on the sme server.

I am able to connect to port 80 (and it shows open when scanned from sygate) but not 8767.

My TS server is not in an ibay. It is intalled in
/home/tss

I don't think it is a permission problem unless permissions can be assigned to ports? The port is showing open in the server-manager , but it is not accessible from the internet.

Brian,
A while ago I posted a mini howto. Why don't you try removing the masq-manager entry and do it manually. Here are the instructions again:

#mcedit /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/rc.d/init.d/masq/42AllowTS
add the following:
/sbin/iptables --append INPUT -p udp --dport 8767 -i $OUTERIF -j ACCEPT
followed by:
#/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/rc.d/init.d/masq
#/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot

And see how that Goes

Lloyd and others,
Thank you very much for the replies. I regret to say I still am unable to connect to my server from the internet. I'm stumped, any other ideas what my problem could be?

Brian,
What type of internet connection do you have? Are you trying to pull up the server by name or IP? Is there a setting in the TS server to allow public access to the server? Not too sure what else to try.

I have comcast cable internet, I have tried connecting to the server both via ip and dyndns. I can connect TS server on port  14534 just fine and to port 8o on SME. I guess I will try some other options in SME server manager as it is just a stock install accept the TS addition.
