Hi,

I don't know if my story is very useful or good..

Till 2 weeks we move to a new SME Server from 7 to 9 version.
All synchronization of emails is working fine with a lot of clients (70 users) on Imap SSL/993 and Smtp SSL/465:
  • PC Software Client: Outlook, Thunderbird, Postbox, Mail....
  • Sogo on Webmail
  • Smarphone: IOs (Iphone), Samsung (Android), Nokia Lumia 625 (WindowsPhone)

Default SME SSL Certificate is on the server (with the 1 year), I have to accept one time on each client on the first time.

The big ISSUE is that we have 3 mobiles of WindowsPhone - Nokia Lumia 610:
till 5 days I try to synchronized them on IMAPs or Sogo/ActiveSync and nothing work !!

These phones were working on SME 6 Server...strange

So I review : to update with Zune (never heard about this before) all the Nokias, to check a lot of thing like to put the imap server with ":993" but nothing is working.

My last steps looking on Google is that some users are exporting the certificates from the Browser then sending by hotmail and opening it from the Phone (in .p7b or .cer format), I did this but IMAPs or ActiveSync synchronization could not be done on the Nokia Lumnia 610....

Only and only this smartphone is not working ....very strange

Certificate difference between SME6 and SME 9:
the only difference I see between the certificates of SME6 and SME9 is that on SME configuration the certificate is 2048 bits and on SME6 it is 1024 bits.

By the way on another VM, I install the SME9 with a certificate "CA CERT" (documentation contribs), the Nokia Lumnia 610 could not download IMAPS or Sogo ActiveSync mail.

Nokia Lumia 610 is on WindowsPhone 7.8 -> Imaps Synchronization is NOT working with SME 9 Server.
Nokia Lumia 620/625 is on WindowsPhone 8 / 8.1 -> Imaps Synchronization is working with SME 9 Server.

To Resume the test of IMAPs synchro. :

SME 9 (initial certificate or CA CERT) : Thunderbird OK, Outlook OK, IOs ok, Samsung Android Ok, Nokia 625 WindowsPhone 8.1 Ok., Nokia Lumia 610 Not Working NOK.
SME 6 (initial certificate): Thunderbird OK, Outlook OK, IOs ok, Samsung Android Ok, Nokia 625 WindowsPhone 8.1 Ok, Nokia Lumia 610 Windows Phone 7.x 7.8 working OK.

is it a bug of WindowsPhone 7.x ? is someone have a WindowsPhone 7.x (hope to no...this is not a good phone!! but hope to yes to resolve the problem) ??
On this link : https://www.tbs-certificates.co.uk/navigateurs2048.html.en I CAN SEE THAT CERT. SSL for MOBILE 2048 are not compatible with WindowsPhone 7.x, is it my answer here !!!???

From my reading of that link that is only the case if SHA1 is used as the hashing algorithm (signing). Please see http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8615 - the hashing algorithm is being changed to SHA256. Perhaps this issue will be resolved when that update is released.
