VMware on SME8 64bit
« on: November 11, 2012, 01:07:19 AM »
An interesting side effect I had in moving to 64bit that I wasn't expecting is 32bit apps running on 64bit vmware are positively peppy compared to them running on 32bit vmware on either SME7 or SME8 on 32bit. No idea why. It might be a vmware thing or possibly an unrelated driver or module that just behaves better in a 64bit environment. I would be interested to know if others have seen any difference.

btw, I've updated the VMWare wiki entry for SME8 and 32bit vs 64bit installs.

Christian,

Thank you for the information on running Vmware on a 64bit SME-8 as I did this two days ago now when I first saw this posting and I'm very pleased with it.   I have a virtual 2003sbe, WinXP, Windows7, a SME8 for Dev testing and lastly a virtual appliance of APC's StructureWare Data Center Expert running on it with great results so far.  I hope to try and do a Window8 instance this coming weekend for testing
