Topic: restore from workstation (solved)

i cant seem to restore from backups done with dar to a new server install , i have done the following:

1.fresh server install

2.installed all updates

3.configured backup from workstation

4.verified the backup (stored on a usb stick)

4.tried to restore (3 times) and every time i get "restore failed" i reboot and even try to do a reconfigure

and get nothing , no ibays , no users , no groups , and no station can log on to the domain.

before i open a bug  , maybe someone has an idea ? , maybe im doing some thing wrong ?

well.. you could start looking in your /var/log/messages for errors

in any case, your best bet is to open a bug, if you are in the hurry to recover your server

im on test server on virtualbox so no hurry , but would like to know how to restore ok so i can deploy this great
distro on a prodution server .

Solved     :

short story - manuall backup of more then one incramental file in the same day does not work at the moment - files are created in the same name whice confuses
dar whan doing a restore.

dar whan doing a restore.

More exactly : daily workstation backup is not set to provide manual backup. So if you force more than one backup (by changing the config) on the same day when incremental backup is set, backups do have different names, but with the same day in their names. And restore process is confused about that.
Forcing more than one backup on the same day should never be made without resetting the backup process (disable and enable).
